J-Mate

As a follow up; will the J-Mate "follow" the LS/+Target, based on location transmitted from the LS to the J-Mate, or is the tracking function optical only?
What I am trying to ask is, if visual contact is broaken between the +Target and the J-Mate, (such as walking behind a structure) will the J-Mate still track the approximate location of the LS based on the approximate position being transmitted by the LS? Or will it be necessary to re-acquire the target from scratch if the "visual lock" is broken?

J-Mate looks like a lot of very sophisticated software. Is it going to work on the present Windows CE system, or will it require the Linux update to function?

It looks like the Horizontal & Vertical Scan Range is limited to +/- 5 degrees (total of 10 degrees). Is this correct? If so, does that mean it will take multiple scans for a larger surface?

Will there be point cloud softwere?

There likely won’t be another significant update of J-Field for Windows so the Linus OS will be needed. The scan range options will probably be modified at some point. I agree that more options are needed. I don’t think there are any plans for point cloud software at this time.

Someone please check my logic. 10 degrees scan range both H & V in 1' incriments = 360,000 points! (10*10*60*60) That will challange my processing power. Also, what will it do to the LS memory and processing speed? At 10 points per second that is 10 hours to scan (360,000/60/60). If I did it Time and data control will be something we will learn quickly. I see why the scanning interpolation routine was developed.

I wish the range was more like 300 meters. I would be all in. Sell my robot. Buy a Jmate. However I can still think of examples where I might wanna take a 500ft to 1000ft shot. I love everything else about it.

I had a JMate Total station screen appear when I was doing Direct offset collections along a creek today but then it disappeared and I haven't been able to recreate why?
What am I missing here?

Another short video has been added on the Javad main website, looks good!

I once worked on a goverment project where security encouraged us to NOT use the word "target" when talking about our sighting point and NEVER to say "take a shot". You may want to consider changing your vocabulary.
