On the home page at the bottom of the screen you will see the time. Click on it and you can change the time from 12-24 hour and the time offset from utc.

Thanks guys. Guess I need to take it outside where it can see some satellites. It's a used one I picked up, just getting Linux on it and going to try the base/rover with 2 LS. Is that procedure in the manual somewhere? I thought I saw a thread on here about it, but can't find it now.

Duane, here are some rough notes I have.

UHF settings are pretty much the same as other UHF setup.
I set it up and it started giving corrections to the rover LS without using the base rover setup area. So base rover button doesn't apply in this case I assume?

I did use the external radio antenna on the base but wondering if that's necessary or not? With external radio I know not supposed to power without antenna on.

Staked out to known point and seems to be working. Will try post processing tomorrow. Should I DPOS base first or transfer and DPOS from the rover?

I can relate. We use Carlson SurvCE with our total station and after a year still don't have the same level of function on the LS.
Looking at getting another data collector with GPS to use with the TS so we can navigate to points.
Also very interested in the new SurvCe with hybrid, switch from TS to GS on the go. Maybe a network rover on the new T3?

Bill, you should have same level of function. Give me a call or email on what you're wanting to do and I can probably show you how to do it (if not, one of the real experts like Matt can). But yeah, it's a different software, so with multiple crews sometimes it's easier to use only one software. On the other hand, there are so many advantages to the LS with J-field I would go to the effort of training someone. In fact, I wouldn't feel comfortable sending anyone out on rtk missions on any other system. to me it seems like responsible measurement (LS with j-field) versus hocus pocus (everything else). But that's just my impressions as an investigator and admit I'm not a GNSS expert.

If you are familiar Carlson SurvCE, the commands within the Map View are extremely useful. We import polylines for deed lines and proposed buildings, etc.
WE can then draw, modify, offset, and transform much like using CAD in the office. The simple solution here is sometimes to export points from the LS, import into SurvCE on the data collector. Do our rotations, offsets whatever to place the building footprint, then transfer points back to the LS for stakeout. ( And yes, the stakeout is awesome)

JField can be overly complicated at times, just selecting a range of points to export is a process of forward and back through numerous screens, which are not intuitive. "Escape" when you have completed the selection?

The LS is awesome for doing GPS measuring, no doubt, but it can be challenging to use.

I agree improvements could be made. I do have SurvCE, but not actually too familiar with it. The way I do things I can't really do it in the field, even with SurvCE (with my limited knowledge of it). I bring my laptop and download into CADD if that's an issue, but usually what I'm working on needs to sit on the table to age a bit before I declare anything. I do want the LS mainly for GNSS measurement and documentation of same. If you can't prove the measurements then you're working with bad evidence and results will suffer. I used to do a lot of engineering related work and so I know the frustration some must be feeling. You finally have something that can get a reliable and documentable position in a short period of time, but having trouble working with it. I get it and predicted this would be the hardest part; doing software and hardware in one company (not sure anyone has successfully done it before). Time will tell.

In this screen you press Escape or Back because it is a single configuration screen. If there were multiple screens to cycle through then the "Next" option would be available. It is very simple to export a range of points. In the Points screen filter the points to those you desire to export and then select Export from the menu. These points are then automatically selected for the Export Range.
