L.S. wifi wish

I have a $65 action camera that generates its own Wifi.
An app on my phone that connects to the camera Wifi can see what the camera sees and operate it.
No need for an internet connection. Could this be hardware be added to the L.S. in future versions?
Would be very useful to control the L.S. for raising and lowering the unit to an out of reach sweet spot.

Okay I was under the impression that a data plan was needed and connection to cell towers, my bad.
Which app are you referring to?
Also I am referring to the L.S. generating the wifi like the camera, not the phone and the phone connects to it as a local wifi.

I havent tried the app lately, I usually have internet and just use the Browser version of Rams. Not sure but I think you just enter the ip address shown in the app into the custom server under remote assistance.

Access Point functionality has already been implemented in the current release version of the software:

The mobile RAMS app still needs to be updated before it can be used with Linux however.

I last used RAMS on a tablet about 3-4 years ago and needed an internet connection to go through the server.

You accessed it through a web browser then. The mobile and desktop RAMS apps host the server on the device.
It was an Android tablet with the app that used my phone as a hotspot.
okay still confused, to control the L.S. it still has to go through the internet through the RAMS server. I need a data connection to the internet.

Like I said, the mobile and desktop RAMS apps host the server on the device so a connection to the internet is not needed. The device and LS just must be connected to the same local wifi network.

The problem is that for your phone to act as a hotspot it has to have a cell signal. The carriers do this so that they can constantly verify that the hotspot option is a part of your plan. As Matt said, the RAMS mobile app and the LS do not require internet service, just the connection to the host local network (the phone).

Making the LS the hotspot works around this issue, however the mobile RAMS application doesn't work with the LS as the hotspot. We're still waiting for this to be updated.

okay back to my original message, As I now understand it the L.S. can generate a wireless network/connection like my action camera.
I connect to the L.S. Network through networks on my phone, launch the RAMS app and be able to control the L.S. IF the app gets updated for Linux.
No cell signal required.

So is it possible right now to use RAMS on my android phone to control my Linux LS without an internet connection?

To be technically correct, without a cellular connection, it is not currently possible to connect your android phone to the Triumph-LS (Linux or Windows operating system). The Linux operating system offers the capability because the LS becomes the host (instead of the phone being the host), but the necessary interface has not been made on the Android/iOS RAMS to actually make the connection.
