New changes and options with new LS Plus

I installed the Jfield and GNSS updates to the pre release for the LS plus this morning and saw some oddities. The reason I anxiously installed it was hoping it took care of some of my UHF problems I’ve been having and it sure “seemed” like it did. Don’t know if it was supposed to or I just had a “lucky” spot where it worked better than it had been.

The two main things I saw was it definitely seems as if the “auto setup engines” button isn’t doing anything when I hit it. Usually I immediately see a “repopulation” of the sats and that didn’t happen all day. Most times if there’s red x’s within the engines, those go away when hitting auto setup - they didn’t today. Reset engines does work however.

The other odd thing was when flashing on/off to CDF as the plus still does quite often I got this on the engine screen

It went away immediately as soon as CDF went away.

It seemed as if not being able to get auto update to work caused the LS to take much longer to fix. I was on two separate points for 30/45 minutes each with no good results. On both points, I eventually did a hard reset of the LS. As soon as it rebooted and acquired radio signal, it locked in and fully validated a 3 phase shot in seconds - after nothing for 30+ minutes. I went to the next point I had previously been on for quite a while and repeated the exact same thing. Rebooted again - and boom - immediately a validated 3 phase shot. I’m very, very familiar with “sometimes it works better” when you go back to a bad spot several minutes later, but this wasn’t that at all. It was like both reboots kicked it into “super charged” mode.

Is the auto setup engines button bug in pre release being addressed? It is still not working and is causing a major problem/difference in the ability to acquire a fix in heavy coverage. The unit becomes very "stuck" and is not performing anywhere near where it was a few weeks ago before that stopped working....

They are working on it. Maybe sometime this week is what has been estimated.

A new pre release update came out yesterday. Good news is the auto setup engines button is now working again. Bad news is I have two LS plus units on the exact same pre release firmware and one is processing rtpk and the other is not. The button to enable that option is now gone from where it was. Has that button been moved to another location?

We are preparing to move RTPK under option and by mistake we forgot to disable the check on the screen in the Prerelease version.
If you put the receiver on RAMS I can return the check box remotely.
Update: I can't return the check box but I can enable the option remotely.

I have modified current Boundary action profile to enable the post-processing. If you need other profiles also - tell me.
Many people including me create our own profiles. We need to be able to turn the option on and off. I like how it was. Maybe have a message come up when the check box is checked if the customer doesn't have the oaf to support it that it is available as an option.

I agree. In the next PreRelease we will return the check box even if there are no option. In the current version this check box disappears because you don't have this purchased option now.

So, how and when are we going to able to purchase this option? What is the cost going to be? Will it be through an OAF file uploaded into the LS I would assume? It would seem to be best (for users anyway) that we are able to purchase the option, if we desire, before it becomes unavailable to those of us that have already become accustomed to having it.

It's all in process Daryl. Pricing is being discussed internally. Yes it will be an OAF upgrade for Triumph-LS Plus and likely even for the standard Triumph-LS. I believe on the standard Triumph-LS it will be a huge advantage because it is so robust compared to RTK (with multi-constellation corrections). I'm sure an announcement will be made soon. It seems that it was an accident that the checkbox was left off of this release.

Thanks Shawn. I concur that it is quite robust. As far as the price being discussed internally, most infomercials seem to do well sticking with $19.95 - I’d suggest that ;)

I have just the LS...and I’m hooked on this rtpk. Based on above conversations I’m not sure if I need to update to the latest prerelease as I might lose it for now. Advice please.

The plan is for it to be available for both Standard Triumph-LS and Triumph-LS Plus. It's planned to be a chargeable upgrade for both. Pricing has not yet been announced, but the pricing I've heard is very reasonable for the improvement in power. You will want a base that is transmitting multi-constellation corrections to really get the full benefit of RTPK. I think it will ultimately make a significant positive change in how we verify collection in bad environments.

Darren: I have been following your posts. I received the LS Plus June 5. We had returned all 3 parts ( LS _00422, Triumph_1M20215, and the 35 Watt Radio). We have experienced your exact same problems, especially loosing the UHF at about 1,200' with line of sight of the antenna and the message to attach the external antenna (antenna is attached). We use the Matt Johnson (T1M radio issue) "For switching to the external radio" procedure. Did you ever come up with a solution that you would share?
