Reading the report(s)

I am working on an ALTA/NSPS Title Survey and attempting to check my results for conformity to the "Positional Precision" and "Relative Positional Precision".

When reading the JAVAD reports am I correct in my assumption that the "95% Confidence Ellipse" published as "σa" is the "Semi-major axis" and not the "major-axis"?

As a follow up; is there a function in the LS (or other software (Carlson)) that will report the Relative Positional Precision of a pair of points as defined/required by the new ALTA/NSPS Standard?

Thanks Matt! That has saved me many hours. I now have follow up questions:
1 - The report has a column header "Ratio". What is this a ratio of?
2 - Is there a way to combine projects or data from various days/units?

1. I do not know. That is something the developers will have to chime in on.
2. If you were to go to Action/Project/Merge Projects, you can merge two projects together from different projects/days/units (if they have a project archive on the device that you are trying to do this in) and then you can run the accuracy calculator on the points you wish.

What great support. You may take the rest of the week off!

Matt:

Thanks for posting this; I've been wondering about it. I'm assuming that the projects to be merged have to be on the same coordinate basis. Also, if you merge two projects, do you have to come up with a new name for the resulting project or can you select one of the existing project names?

You do not need to worry about coordinate systems when merging projects. All survey points have the same coordinate system in the database, WGS84. Design points have the native coordinate system that they were assigned when created. Coordinate systems in the projects are merged during the process. A new project can be created or projects can be merged into an existing project.
