T2 USB Drivers

I had to reinstall Windows on my laptop, and so I had to also reinstall Net View & Modem. I went to install the T2 USB drivers (from the .zip file on the website) and when I hook it up, the list of Connected Devices in Windows shows Triumph 2, GNSS Receiver, "driver error". I was able to connect via Bluetooth, but that's much slower than USB.

The error message isn't very helpful, so does anyone know what else can be done to enable USB? It worked just fine before Windows 10 was installed. As I typed that I'm wondering - is it a Windows 10 issue?

Here's a couple screen shots of the USB properties for the T2. I'm wondering if this is a driver issue or a Windows 10 issue. Has anyone been able to successfully connect their T2 to a Windows 10 PC?

Aaron, are you trying to connect using NetView and Modem? The version looks correct in your screen captures. I also connect on Windows 10 without issue.

Aaron,
Our USB drivers should work properly under Win 10.
I would recommend the following steps:
1. When Triumph-2 is ON, connected to PC by USB cable and you see this problem, shown on your pictures, use "Uninstall" button to completely uninstal this driver (select "remove driver files" check-box also).
2. Turn OFF Triumph-2 and disconnect it from PC, as well as disconnect any USB receivers from that PC.
3. Reboot (better complete shutdown for 2-3 minutes) your PC and wait when Win 10 completely rebooted.
4. Download our USB drivers from our website again:
http://storage.javad.com/downloads/drivers/usb/jgnssusb.zip
to separate empty folder and unzip files to that folder.
5. Run "jgnssusb.exe" and follow drivers installation instructions. As a goog result, you should get final installation window with 3 green marks - 3 drivers installed properly. If any problem on this step, try to run "jgnssusb.exe" again "As Administrator". Please, be sure, no any USB GNSS receivers connected to target PC, when you do drivers installation.
6. When you got 3 green marks and USB drivers installation finished, reboot your PC again.
7. Connect Triumph-2 to PC by USB cable and turn receiver ON. Win 10 should detect new USB device appearance and will automatically install 2 drivers for this device, one-by-one, one for USB bus, one for virtual COMx port - just wait when it finished. As a result, you should get new virtual Serial COMx port on your PC, associated with Triumph-2 receiver. Then use this COMx port with any software to communicate with Triumph-2 receiver. To get maximum possible data transfer rate, select 1500000 baud rate for this COMx port connection.

Thanks for the input everyone - I'm 99% sure it's a "run as administrator" issue. Our federal government has determined this is something that requires an expert, and it's - for whatever reason - completely baffling to them on how to accomplish this via tech support. Anyway, I'm going through the tech support chain of command. SO frustrating.

We have an option that lets you run as a quasi-administrator, and I thought that would bypass the privileges, but I guess not.

If it's anything but an administrator issue, I'll post it here.

Sorry, but my suggestion above does not work with that particular icon.

But...

If you are the administrator, you still have to make the program run with administrative credentials. There are two scenarios::

  1. Right click on the icon. Then go to the Security tab. If you user ID is listed under “Group or user names”, select it then click on “Edit”. Next, select your user ID and then, under “Permissions to...” select “Full control”. Click OK, then OK. And you should be good to go.

  1. If you user ID is not listed under “Group or user names”, click “Add…”. In the next dialog box click “Advanced”. In the next dialog box click “Find Now”. Scroll down the list until you find your User ID and select it and click OK. Select OK again. Your User ID should now be listed under “Group of user names”. Select it then click on “Edit”. Next, select your user ID and then, under “Permissions to...” select “Full control”. Click OK, then OK. and you are good to go.
