OK whats the HOTTEST set up from Javad?

I am a Land Surveyor. I am always struggling to stay abreast of technological advances. I have said for a LONG time, that the people that NEED a 1 ton 4-wd, with big bumpers front and rear, with winches, and the whole get up cannot afford them. And, those who CAN and DO afford them DON'T need them. I see these big 90,000$ trucks reving it up at the stoplights, and driving over curbs. But, it's Urban Cowboy gone wild.
So, just what is the HOTTEST and STRONGEST Javad GPS system available, and how much does it cost?
Is it a T-3 on Base, a super duper new style 35 watt radio, that duplexes, and sends signals via Wifi, bluetoot, and cell, and UHF, VHF, and satelite uplink.... and a Javad LS, and a repeater, and a nice tall 50' base radio antenna, and an electric fence around the base?
Outfit us high mountain Ouichita Survey boys, with the biggest, baddest, and put a dollar on it, and keep us updated as it changes. And, also drop down to "Best dollar value" too. Sometimes we have to go that route.
This is HOW we see you 5 PLS team's job. And, we look forward to getting a fix to the 0.0001', inside a cave!
:)
Talk to us....
Thanks!
Nate
(PS, this is SLIGHTLY dramatized, but I watched a little of Si Robertson the other day, and it's his fault!)

The answer to your question is going to change substantially from one surveyor to another based on the type of work and their business structure. For those with access to an RTN I'd probably recommend two LS's that could be used for base/rover or two rovers from the RTN. For those who don't need the range of a 35-watt radio, I'd discuss communication options. For those who don't work in canopy, I'd probably recommend the Triumph-LS instead of the Triumph-LS Plus. For those with poor cellular network in their work areas, I would not recommend upgrading to cellular. There are several things to consider in all of this. I have not used a Triumph-LS Plus at the present time, so I don't know what the real-world difference is between the Plus and the standard LS, if the $4990 extra is justified. I suspect it will be. Assuming that it is, I'd generally recommend this:

Triumph-3 with Beidou upgrade: $12,490
Triumph-LS Plus with Cellular option: $18,980
HPT435BT JL with Cellular option: $4,495

The possibility would also be there if the cellular option is Verizon for the 435 and the Triumph-LS to add $500 each to them for a one year data plan (static IP included) that would raise the total by $1000. I would suggest that this is the current top-end base/rover system.

You could also consider the addition of the J-Mate for an additional cost of $15,990.

So looking at totals:
  • $35,965 Base/Rover, external radio, cellular capable (customer supplies GSM SIM cards, with one being static IP). Without cellular, deduct $2,000.
  • $36,965 Same as above with Javad supplied Verizon SIM cards (static IP) for JL and LS
  • $52,955 Base/Rover, external radio, cellular capable (Verizon), with J-Mate. Without cellular, deduct $3,000.
I would recommend talking with a qualified Javad salesperson to discuss what you might actually need and what might be an unnecessary extra expense for your business. Systems will fluctuate drastically between different user's needs.

I think I would probably put the cellular option in the radio instead of the Triumph-3, if I were to use the cellular option because it opens the JL up to being used as an RTN bridge if that were ever to be an option. However, putting the cellular option in the Triumph-3 may offer some limited anti-theft help. With the cellular option in the radio, the base setup would be a bit more cumbersome because you'd need the radio for a cellular setup. You could use a smaller battery for cellular work though, so the setup wouldn't be quite as bulky as when running UHF at 35-watts. You could also use the radio as a WiFi hotspot for other devices, potentially getting more from your data plan. Lots of options and each one will turn on a specific surveyor's strategy.

We have a JL radio and it has changed our lives (for the better). Still working on set up and killing all of the bugs, but that is expected on the bleeding edge. JAVAD support is like having an expert on your crew that you don't have to pay!

We have an LS with a built in SIM card and an LS with a Wi-Fi hotspot. We don't feel that the SIM card option is worth the money. It requires an external antia and fails in weak signal spots. Sometimes the hotspot can be elevated or moved to get that last shot of the day.
