Satellites Icon

One of my LS units appears to have a glitch that I need help fixing.
Occasionally the (Satellites/Receiver Name) screen icon on the top roe (near the center) will flash red. When the icon is red I can't collect data. Sometimes I can fix this by rebooting. However, sometimes the only cure is to update the unit. It requires that the unit be updated even though the unit is fully updated. I can live with this, but sometime I am not in a cell coverage area and must pack out and drive to a cell coverage area and be certain to not turn my unit off until I am finished for the day. My solution is to turn my unit on while in a coverage area and then drive or walk to the site. I have three other LS units and none of them display this problem.

Hi Steve,
Is software on all units identical?
Also is it recovering by itself in few minutes?
If it happens frequent enough to catch it for few hours then put it to RAMS. We will try to investigate it.

Eugene,

The software is the same on all units (2 of the units are LS+, so there may be differences). However this has been a persistent issue for almost a year and has continued with all updates. (Adam has/had the same issue with one of his units.)

It does not recover on its own. We must take action to fix it.

It is happening now and the unit is on RAMS now:
Unit Name: GFSLS1
pw: GFS

Hey Steve, I haven't seen that behavior in a while. Is this the LS plus unit?

It happens periodically usually on Mondays after a few days on non use. It resolves with either an update to it's existing firmware or a reboot. depends

Leave it on as long as you can and put on charge and leave it on tonight so Eugene can look into it. I am curious if updating to prerelease would fix it. But, I would wait until you get some direction from Eugene.

It is plugged in and waiting for brighter minds than mine to resolve. Thanks Adam.

Please, push connect button on the screen! I need another server be configured.

Steve, I would update to prereleased version in your case because of some firmware booting fixes in OS.
Do you use it as an Base station only? Do you exchange project data among other unit? If this unit is kind of isolated than we safe to upgrade to prerelease.

Thanks Eugene and Adam,

In addition to using this unit as a base, we use the unit as a rover with our T-3 as a base. We also use the unit as both a rover and a base paired with our J-Link radio. Sometimes we use the unit as a base with the one watt radio. And, sometimes as a bas or a rover with our four watt radio.

Yes, we exchange project data with our other units. This unit is not isolated, but we have seen no evidence that it infects our other units.

We will upgrade to the pre-release and cross our fingers. None of our other units have ever exhibited this issue, and this unit has had this problem for many months and through several updates. Hopefully the next update will fix it and we will never need to ask "Why"?

We will update a little later this morning and go to work. Thanks for looking at it.

Steve, I was writing to you privately. please read.
It sounds like this unit needs RMA, really, but let us see you feedback on PreRelease before take this decision.
