Base setup on site

I now have almost 1 year under my belt but still greener than a gourd!
I find myself setting the base closer and closer to the site I'm working on. At what point is "too close" to actually benefit from using a base and rover?
There's been a couple times everything is within 150'. Just trying to figure all this out so as to be getting the optimal performance! tia

I feel pretty green myself often...feel like i only scratch the surface of what the equipment will do.

I use a ls+ and t3 base for most of my work...no site too small. I have a magnetic mount i stick on the headache rack of the truck for the base if everything is a hike and i will not be using truck. Otherwise i put it on a tripod and have at it.

A day without my javad would be like a day...wait, not even going there.
