Release V4.0 heartburn...

It's been to busy for me to want to try and upgrade at the moment. For those who have, what has given you the most heartburn about it? What processes slowed you down before you got used to it? Any thoughts on the overall upgrade experience? Thanks!

For all the talk of it being a “major change”, it really wasn’t. The only big difference screen wise is the rtcm (not sure what that acronym stands for) button on the top line where you set/change from vrs/tcp/uhf. Once you do that once or twice it’s easy peasy.
The only downside, and is has been discussed in another thread, is the time it takes to connect to the base. It’s 3X to 4X longer than it used to be as it now “checks” a bunch of parameters. It’s a bit annoying at first, but after a day or two you’ll get used to it.
The ability to start the base using both tcp and uhf is really, really nice. We have already used either/or on the same day on several jobs.

There are also some new default profiles set up for “open” and “canopy“ that the 5pls team worked on but I haven’t tried those out. We’ve got our own boundary profile and how we use it pretty well set and do a lot of what the 5pls team implemented in these profiles visually ourselves.

All in all, it was a very stress free update I’d say. Jeremy Lynch came to my office and took all of my crews through all the changes and we’ve had little trouble since.
