AS BUILT Inverts with the LS

Is there a way of collecting invert info from Manholes/Storm structures where the LS will calculate the invert elevation of the structure. The only way I have seen is changing the rod height every time, which is not a good solution. My data collection software for my total station has something where you can plug in the invert depth and it calculates and store the elevation so I don't have to go back later and subtract it in my drawing software. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Can you do a point by offset and add a vertical offset? By default the offset function stores a point in the original location and then creates the offset point also. Obviously, your horizontal offset would be zero. I am very new so someone correct me if I'm wrong.

My answer to your question probably reflects my old school approach to surveying.
Use GPS to get the Rim location, Elevation and Point number.
Then break out the field note book and pencil.
Sketch of system and connections
Denote pipe sizes and measure downs.

It will make your drafter happier as they can now see what connects to what and eliminates a Node Forest
A lot less chance of introducing error with miscalculating rod height minus measure down - especially if you already have a vertical height offset input
