Base Rover Setup - Do Not Change Profiles

I've had several calls recently from users and have found that several of you are still switching profiles from your Rover setup to your Base setup, going through Base Rover setup, then recalling your Rover setup to go to work. This is entirely unnecessary since the implementation of Base Rover Setup and is actually counter-productive. One user didn't understand why he couldn't select 35w output power for his base. After leaving the LS in a UHF rover profile and connecting to the base (a Triumph-2 connected to an HPT35BT) he saw the option for 35 watt output. This is not the first time I've had this same conversation, so let me repeat:

Do Not Change the LS to a Base profile when configuring an external base receiver (ie Triumph-1 or Triumph-2). By keeping the LS as a rover and connecting to the external base, any communication differences are resolved in the process of base rover setup. If you recall a base profile onto the LS, then your rover profile will not benefit from any changes to communication parameters made in the base rover setup process.

This video covers the steps necessary for base rover setup. The only action missing (because it is new) is the Transmission Rate.

Hi Shawn,

When I updated my base transmission rate I noticed 2 things.

1. The firmware version for the TS and T2 are not identical; and

2. When configuring, all 3 choices for base modem were greyed out.

After a few attempts I was able to start the base and connect via UHF. The first few attempts indicated waiting in the UHF base section of the rover/base set up page.

Any thoughts?
