Boot Failure

While troubleshooting an RTN problem this afternoon after updating to the latest release of J-Field, I noticed that there was a GeoData update available, so I installed it. Now my LS won't boot. It gets to the splash screen ("You've come a long way...Survey!"), but no farther. The lower left LED flashes green, red and yellow. I've tried several hard resets (hold down the power button), but it never gets any farther than this point.

Next step?

How long did you wait? If it wasn’t long, try waiting longer. It should eventually boot to the Windows OS if J-Field is unable to load. Do you have all your data currently backed up?

Data is backed up, but I tried rebooting several times, then let it sit for a couple of hours and tried again. No go, just the splash screen.

If you created a restore point before updating then restoring to it is your best option.

I created a restore point prior to the J-Field update, but not prior to the GeoData update. However, while I can get to the Choose Restore Point screen by holding the Home key, it doesn't show any restore points -- the only option is Exit & Continue.

What's the Factory Recovery procedure? I don't see anything about it in the User Guide.

It looks like I have file system access via USB despite the apparent J-Field loading loop. Are there certain files I can manipulate to accomplish a Restore? I see a folder dated today in the VS Backup folder; would something in there get me anywhere?

If you have a backup copy of the GeoData folder you could delete the existing Internal Memory/GeoData folder and replace it with the backup copy. We could probably also post a link to download this if you don't have a backup copy of it.

Where is the GeoData folder supposed to be?

It should also contain folders that have the installation of J-Field and all the database files. I will see if someone else can comment on what may have caused this.

You will need to do factory recovery. Looks like a problem with filesystem. I suspect when you were trying to install GeoData, it was showing version number "0.0.0.0"

I updated all release updates this morning and have the same thing....version 0.0.0.0 on Geodata....my LS booted up but all jobs are in WGS only, no conversion.
After checking for updates again, there's a version 2.4.3.31025 that I am updating now.
Hopefully this will fix the problem??

Nope....completely screwed up now. Won't boot up at all, finally goes to windows screen and I get this message.
For those who haven't, I would strongly suggest DO NOT UPDATE!!

I did a factory restore and then a restore from backup, and everything seems to be working now. When I checked for updates it shows me up to date, with GeoData 2.4.31025. Does that mean that the new GeoData got loaded somehow, or did a GeoData update get pulled from the update source due to problems?
