Can no longer import my linework DXF file!

I can no longer import my linework DXF file, it gets to about 49% and stalls indefinitely until I reboot. I desperately need this function back.

Thanks,

I had the exact same problem. Except it was with dwg files. Mine wouldn't import dxf either. I tried.

Here was my fix. Download dwg trueview from autocad and use dwg trueview to convert the file to autcad 2010 formate (dwg).

Hope this helps.

You're welcome. I do almost all of my construction staking with 3d polylines. It's a lot easier than working up all those points. It's also easier to stakeout in the field too.

I am having trouble with importing linework even saving back to a 2010DXF from Microsurvey Embedded Autocad. I would not think that I would have to use Trueview when I am exporting from a true Autocad product itself. Any word on why this is happening. Before Linux I could export a 2013 DXF and not have any problems. It gets to the 49% import mark and it hangs up just like Gregory shows above. You have to do a restart to get it out of that screen. I will give Trueview a try, but I don't think I should have to add another step to the process when it worked before.

Any word on what has changed with the program regarding importing DWG/DXF files. I have not changed my drawing program or updated anything to do with it and yet I have to now export my files out to TRUEview and covert them to a 2010 format to get them to upload without hanging up. Suppose there is a fix on your end to put it back the way it was before LINUX update. I would attach a sample of a 2010 dwg that does not upload at Adams suggestion if you tell me how to upload it to you.

Third party libraries are used to import dwg/dxf files. For some unknown reason there is a problem with the current Linux version of it and dwg files created with the embedded Autodesk engine. At some point It will be updated and hopefully resolve the issue.

Has there been any update to this issue? I am having the same troubles as stated above. I have tried autocad 2013 .dwg, 2000 .dwg, 2000 .dxf all with no luck. Gets to 49% and stops. Then I have to reboot the LS.

I had issues when I would write block the desired line work to either a dxf or dwg. I got the same 49% issue and had to reboot to get the LS to respond. My work around was to copy the linework to the clipboard and open a new dwg and paste. Save the dwg or dxf and it came in just fine. I don’t know what’s going on behind the scene with wblock vs copy to clipboard but that made the difference for me. I’m using Carlson 2016 with embedded autocadd by the way.

Thanks for that info Wes. Indeed I was wblocking the linework out of bigger drawings. I will try copying instead.

I am on the latest release version. Here is a link to a .dxf that wouldn't load in the LS.
There is an other issue with this file: format of 2018 year. We are planning to support new format versions of dxf/dwg in the future but not soon. You can save the file from AutoCAD as 2013 year format (for example) and it will be imported correctly to J-Filed.
