Carrying the LS in a case

I've got my eye on a nice foam padded case. It is made for guns, or stuff like that. I want to be able to put the LS, and T2, and Radio in one box. Then, all I have left is the radio antenna, wires, and battery.

I have had to carry the entire get up a number of times with the ATV, to set it up, and to take it down. Less boxes is good.

My question: Is it ok to have FOAM rubber on the face of the LS? Or, does it need to have nylon fabric?

I often clean the screen. I don't want it to develop any scratches, or blemishes.

I don't think foam would be a problem. By the way the LS, T2 and radio will all fit inside the bag the LS comes with.

I have the 35 watt one, with a fan attached. It's bigger than the others. I have a Leica quick release screwed on the bottom, of the 1/4" adapter, giving me a little handle. In this box, I can leave the "little handle" attached.

The box I want is waterproof. I'd like a nice Javad Sticker for it. If I carry it all to a nice hilltop, and set it all up, I don't want to carry the nice soft case with me all day... and I don't want to leave it at the base, because it might get rained on, or a nice little doggy might come along and "mark scent" on it. We always close the base box if it's left at the base site. (a little doggy has marked scent on stuff before, and that's not what I really want on my nice soft JAVAD bag!)
Also, my young uns like to have a base box, so they can stand on it, to set the base up.... I do't always take them, but learning to work is a lost skill!

"Pelican" makes quality water cases. I bought a small case for my tribrachs. They have precut the foam into small cubes so you can pull them out to custom fit the equipment. The larger cases are a bit pricey.

I mothballed the soft case early on in favor of a Pelican Storm:

There's room inside for the receiver, quick-release adapter, external antenna, spare adapter, with tools and extra styli under the receiver.

I used Kaizen foam and cut it to fit. This arrangement makes for a nice rugged carrying case, and it allows me to operate the ancillary functions (cogo, etc.) without having the remove the unit from the case.
