Compass Calibration

Have two LS. After calibration, the Azimuth between the two varies about six to eight degrees. Where is the settings to adjust this difference. Thinking maybe the difference is between Magnetic and True North. Also, when I calibrate the Levels, the readings after are not even close. Is there any other adjustment settings for the level numbers I see at the top of the LS.

The units should be calibrated with the pole you are using attached. If this was not done then this is likely the issue. I believe the compass is aligned to north of the current coordinate system.

To fix the level calibration you need to do the Level Offsets calibration.

Recently the compass in the "course to target" white box hasn't been functioning properly. I assumed I just needed to re calibrate, but that didn't change anything. When you turn the unit to face the direction of a point you're navigating to, the arrow gets stuck, and then jumps back in the other direction. Standard compasses were working fine at the site, so no local attraction to the degree that I'm seeing on screen. This was over the course of several days, with the same behavior.

Others above are right.
If you don’t go through the level offset calibration, then the LS does not know which way is up. If it does not know which way is up, then it misreads the information from the internal compass. Giving you wrong information.

Thanks Nate, I wasn't sure if those were two separate issues above me or not. It looks like calibrating both levels and compass may have fixed it. Tough to calibrate the level in the field, so I hadn't tried that yet.

Only the levels calibration needs be done for it to know which way it up. The level offset calibration is just used to fine tune the calibration. I am not sure why the course to target is not working properly if you are seeing correct compass readings at the top of the action screen.

I had a customer in the past that would calibrate the LS off of the pole and then when he put it on the pole it would not stake out to points properly. I calibrated his unit on the pole and it worked fine. Turns out the pole he was using had an adapter and a washer that had a magnetic signal causing the compass to pull. When calibrated on the pole it would zero that reading out and would operate as expected.
