DPOS Page Stalls

Hi Matt,

I restored all data. I ended up with everything, including the setups.

So, I understand that I need to wipe and start over. Is the following the correct process:

1. Back up everything to the SD card;
2. Restore factory setting; and
3. Restore projects and codes from the backup stored on the SD card.
4. Configure all required setups.

I've looked around and can't find any documentation on the use of the recovery tool. Do I connect to PC and run that tool?

Back up files from LS, Insert the sd card into the pc and then run the recovery tool. Then insert the card into the LS and turn it on. The recovery will begin. After recovery remove sd and delete the files on the card then reinsert in LS. If you don't delete the recovery file from the card it will keep trying to recover.

Gentlemen,

I ran the recovery tool, restored the factory data, established a wifi connection, updated options and system software (GNSS file), mounted a network share, reestablished the cloud connection to my dropbox account and J-Field unexpectedly quit. Is there any reason to pause and investigate the app failure? If not, then I will proceed with restoring my projects and codes.

You can continue to restore the projects. If you find some repeatable action that causes J-Field to quit let us know.

The DPOS page stalls and eventually causes the app to quit. This behavior is consistent. Autosend to DPOS is unchecked...

It still crashes after you did the factory recovery? If so your Full Backup would be needed so it can be investigated.

Yes. I went through the full recovery process. The system randomly failed before I had recovered any my data files. That's when I asked about restoring project files. I went through that process, restored my project files, codes and then manually configured all of my setups. The DPOS page was causing stalls and application failure. I booted the LS this morning, selected cogo>DPOS> scroll one line and and the system becomes unresponsive. A minute or two later the app catches up with my scroll input, fails and returns me to the home screen...

Please let me know how to forward backup if you need a copy.

This system is probably usable at the moment as long as I don't need to access DPOS. Of course I access that feature for every project.

Thanks again for all of the comments and direction.

Are you using the Test branch of J-Field? If you have had you used the Test branch before with some DPOS projects you have restored and switched back to the Release branch this could likely cause problems in DPOS as backwards compatibility is not supported/tested. To share the full backup you could either send us a link to it on Dropbox or Google Drive or upload it to

Hi Matt,

I have used both.

Initially I was only using the stable branch. When beast mode was emerging I switched to the test branch to take advantage of the additional functionality. I was having some problems with the testing branch and moved back to stable a few months ago. A technical problem associated with the radio resulted in moving to back to the test branch. Now I'm back on the stable branch.

I have had significant experience building personal computers, upgrading operating systems etc, etc. I'm at the point now where I wouldn't even consider upgrading a windows OS. For example - it would be a bad idea to start with windows 7 and upgrade to 8 or 10. I don't want all the miscellaneous problems that carry over with the upgrade and migration. It takes longer to reinstall the OS, apps and configure however; the platform is stable and usually performs better.

If we are in a similar situation here, then I prefer to start with a clean system. It will take some time but I can configure the setups and codes. It's convenient but not necessary to have the project files. The additional work will pay off in reliability.

Thoughts?

By the way, I presume the stable branch is the best option?

Yes the Release branch is alway recommended. Restoring setups and codes should not be a problem but restoring projects uses with a later version of J-Field could cause problems.

OK, I'm going to wipe J-Field and restore codes in the stable branch. I would also like to restore setups. When restoring do I choose "settings" to access my backup setups?

The Release branch does not have these options yet. Have you tried deleting all the old projects yet? I would think this should fix your problem with DPOS causing crashes.
