Elevator Tripod

Anyone here used an elevator Tripod for a base setup. Sometimes it would be nice to have a little extra height, when you base is not in a ideal situation. I have never used one, but wondering how practical it would be and how hard it would be to measure the HI, once the center section is raised, is the center section marked in some height marking, etc. Some will go up to like 12' or so.

Thx

We have a fixed height 2 meter tripod, and it works great, and the Seco Snap and twist lock pole is great also we have ours fitted with an 8 min bubble, but I was just wondering if the Elevator Tripod and getting that extra few feet of height, may make any difference especially where you are near a structure that 2m will not get you above it. I have never used one, so I am not sure about measuring HI, etc. This youtube vid shows a robot being lifted high or a scanner being lowered into a MH, I would think raising the base this high would take care of most obstructions down low. Just curious, not sure I am going to buy one, but looks cool.

Wow that is crazy to think that they would put a robot up that high - I would think that there is no way that it could be stable. I have used an elevator tripod in the past with a rotating laser level for construction purposes and it worked great for that purpose. It was a lighter duty construction grade tripod (aluminum). I wouldn't use that one for surveying, but this SECO one is probably better made, but I have no experience with it. I think it would be a good idea if you could easily measure the HI and not extend it too much.
