Feature Request

I have a couple of feature request. One could you make it so we have the ability to do manual line drawing and in stake line feature; could you make it so you can pick a line and stake a parallel offset of said linework?
Thanks,

We have the ability to draw lines in the Review screen (choose the Draw command). You can then Offset that line with the Shift command. Then use Stake>Stake Line> Line Segment From Map.

I've been wanting to go to the field, with strictly line work, and stake line work, with NO point numbers. There is some stuff that allows that, but I have not figured it out yet.
Enter a deed in ACAD, or Carlson.
Import that polyline to the LS.
Complete liberty to rotate and translate, with ease, that polyline. Corner missing? No problem! rotate and translate the polyline, so that it does a "Best fit" on the points (Field shot points) that are nearest, and then stake the node, Saving the point set as a point number. It could even be done, without a worksheet.
I am like the chicken in far side cartoons, dreaming of flying like a buzzard! I think at least some, or most of the ability is there, but to figure it out, and make it very simple... ahhh that's the key!

I've got one for the Javad Team. Let's say you want to upgrade the firmware back at the hotel or send/receive files when you are working out of town. The hotel wifi has an authorization screen that has to "click" agree to terms before you can connect. Any workarounds for this yet without using phone data?

I am not 100% certain this will work but you could try it:
  1. Connect the hotel's wired ethernet connection to the LS
  2. Exit J-Field to Windows
  3. Run Internet Explorer and agree to the terms
  4. Lauch J-Field

I tried that months ago. Internet Explorer is unresponsive. Its like the touch screen is turned off and i had to use the arrow keys. But even with that it didn't work.

I don't suppose you could create the option of displaying station and offset for the tangent you are on as well as the tangent beyond the angle within stake alignment routine? I'm attaching an example.
Thanks,
Gregory

I'd suggest the NEXT and PREV buttons be used to force the next or previous line segment to be the target when staking a polyline or alignment. So in this example of staking polyline Stake1-Stake2-Stake3, tapping next would force the target to the Stake2-Stake3 segment.

This would allow you to jump back and forth and see both stations and offsets.

Sounds good! Do you have a simple way to offset a line in review and draw routine?

Has anyone had the same problem of a hesitation and the screen blinking a few times before going to the data collecting screen when you start collecting data in the testing version of J-Field? It has just updated to J-Field 2.0.4.588, so I will try it and upload a video.

I haven't seen that, you could try rebooting the LS. Does it do the same thing when you are outside and have sat's?

I have rebooted it several times and it does it even after I update to the newest, it does it all the time. It usually does it longer than that. I had it set to start collecting when the rod was plumb and it does it like that as well.

It looks like you have a background map in that project? I would suspect that to be the reason why. Have you tried in a project without a background map?

It does it with or without out the background map, map is not a factor. If I go back to stable, then it goes away. But I like the features of the beta versions, so I deal with it.

This is a new job without background map and no level vial; also just updated again to J-Field 2.0.4.624.
