Getting a shot, behind a hill shadow

This is yours truly, with the Javad LS. I'm holding a yagi antenna. It is a 5 ELM, (5 element) it is designed for 450-470 MHZ.
I have my base setup about 3/4 mile away. The radio is set at 35 watts. But, I have hill shadow. No signal with built in antenna. No signal with rubber ducky, external. But, with the yagi, I have signal.
Now, this is my cobbled together idea, from my local radio shop.
But, I'm sure somebody has a better idea.
But, mine worked. Got 2 Shots on this job, that rtk would not have been possible, without the yagi.
I'm open to other ideas, but this worked.

No, but I carry a saw, and I can cut a small tree and make a pola, and elevate it pretty fast. I bought the yagi, a few months ago but never had a need for it then came to this job and really needed it I would have had to move my base as it was I did two jobs from one base in one day.

Nice thinking Nate! As an amateur radio operator myself, KR3ORY you just gave me an idea for my unused 70cm UHF beam antenna (I used to provide an ECHOLINK on a local 70cm repeater.)

Just make sure it's your base your picking up on your yagi ;)

I posted what I did.
It worked.
I did not study any other devices.
I'm sure there might be a better device.
When you find out how well it works, let us know.
Thanks,
Nate

Yes. I have a another Idea. Turn on a Jetpack at the base and run radio and cell at the same time. Cost you an extra $50 dollar a month. That gives you 3 ways to process a point. Radio, cell, & DPOS. FYI. Setting up to run off of cell takes about 20 minutes after you have your groceries ready to go from the cell provider. After the initial setup, then when you go to work it takes you placing a jetpack near the base. Hardest part is turning the jetpack on. Need to go 10 miles down the road for that NGS check. No problem.
