Help! My T-3 Got too hot!

I worked all day yesterday in the heat. When we packed up, The LS T-3 combo were downloading, while we packed up. They were sitting beside each other in the truck. When I pressed the POWER button on the T-3, I must NOT have held it down for long enough. It went into the padded case, with the power on.
When I got home, it was pretty hot. I brought it into an air conditioned environment. It would NOT turn on. Until I hooked it to power, then it would.

It seems that there is a safety feature, in the T-3, that if it gets hot enough, it burns out a "fuse" or diode. I am guessing that my fuse, or diode has burnt, and will need a new one.
I texted Shawn Billings, and he advised an RMA.

Anyway, my favored solution would be to send me a new fuse, or diode, or battery pack. I'm handy with a soldiering gun, and such. I have fixed alot of things.

Second, would be send it in, but this brings up, turn around time. How much turn around time?

Third, if turn around is slow, how much to rent another T-3?

Forth, is mine still under warranty, and is overheat covered? I know I was overheated too!

I cannot use a T-2, as my LS has been upgraded to a PLUS, and the PLUS units don't work well with the T2, according to other information, that I think is accurate.

I suspect I can use an EXTERNAL power supply, on this T-3, for a while, if need be, but I have not yet confirmed this, in practice. But, I plan to do that today.

Please advise?
Serial number is T-3 00254 Its about 6-8 months old.
Thank you,
Nate

Nate,

Update your T3 firmware to 4.1.04 or higher. It should fix your battery issue. Im not sure about the heat though.

As far as replacing the battery it is a real pain in the butt. I’ve done it on mine and I do not recommend it.

It should fix your battery issue.
Which one? My battery issue seems 2 fold now. One, is it overheated, and blew a diode. Two is that the software may have noticed an overheat condition, and the software shut it down? BTW, I am simply GUESSING.
I am pretty happy changing batteries. I have re celled most products I have owned now.
Although not the new style of batteries. (Lithium ion) are not a part of my repertoire!

Plug the T3 in and force an update of the firmware. See if that fixes it first before we explore other options.
OK, that fixed it.
Steve Hankins walked me through it. (Kudos to Steve).
Here are FULL step by step instructions, for those of you who are DETAIL oriented:

(I suffer from a full blown case of pedantry, and I don't remember stuff, unless it is in detail, and the right slots in my head are filled in!)
-------------------
1.) Hook the T-3 to external power.
2.) Install Bluetooth antenna to T-3.
3.) Turn T-3 on.
4.) Turn on the LS, and HOOK it to the internet, (I use the LAN wire).
5.) Connect the LS to the T-3, via bluetooth.
Remote Base> Green Connect> White Connect, in NE corner of screen> You will now see the RED disconnect, and Green START BASE.
Right below START BASE, it SAYS "Triumph 3" Click this button.
At the LOWER RIGHT appears a button, that says "UPDATE FW & OPTIONS" Click this.
In the NE corner of the screen, appears a button "Update Firmware". Click this.
Now, it says "Update procedure ready to start, YES or NO". It will also have the FIRMWARE version. Click YES.
It will first download the firmware FROM Javad INC to your LS.
Then it will upload this via bluetooth, into the T-3.
You have now updated your firmware.
---------------------
To delete the BASE files, from the T-3 do this:
1.) Hook the T-3 to external power.
2.) Install Bluetooth antenna to T-3.
3.) Turn T-3 on.
4.) Turn on the LS, and HOOK it to the internet, (I use the LAN wire).
5.) Connect the LS to the T-3, via bluetooth.
Remote Base> Green Connect> White Connect, in NE corner of screen> You will now see the RED disconnect, and Green START BASE.
Right below START BASE, it SAYS "Triumph 3" Click this button.
In the NW corner of this screen, will appear a button "Manage Files". Click this.
You can now see a RED X button and others, to manage these base files.
Hold down the RED X button, and it will delete your BASE files from the T-3.

OK, MY T-3 IS WORKING again!!
Notes from this experience.
DON'T close the BOX, that holds the T-3, until you get home. OR for another 15 minutes after taking it down.
IF it inadvertently gets left on, it cannot dissipate the heat fast enough, in a padded case, with a lid. APPARENTLY the T-3 has an Operating System, (Linux?) and it is a full blown computer, with a solid state hard drive. As such, it generates heat.
So, thank you to Matt Sibole, and Steve, et al. I am guessing that others have had a similar experience. (Thus a firmware fix has been implemented).

May your computers run forever!

Glad that worked Nate. I thought that was the case.

PLEASE, HELP -ME!

Hi, I have a JAVAD T 1M. I was using Javad Mobile Tools version 4.4.5, everything was working normally, until the system was updated to version 4.5 and since then the receiver can't get the fixed solution or even doesn't capture satellites. Please, how can I reverse this situation?
