How do I edit a design point in the field?

How do I manually edit, the values of an old coord, in the LS?
I want to edit the elevation, but hold the N, and E.
I have tried what makes sense, but it looks like I nearly have to DELETE and re enter.
I hate to blunder it, in the field.

Click manual it shows zeroes. Back up one (ESC) and click manual again and it will have the current coordinates.

POINTS
DESIGN
PENCIL

Click on the small box on the left side with the coordinates in it. Then click on the big box in the center of the screen with coordinates in it. Then click manual (which may be zeroes). Cancel. Then click manual again and it should be populated with the current coordinates.

OK, that got it. that was odd.
I banged my head on a tree for a long time to figure that out.

Full Sequence:
POINTS
PENCIL
SMALL BOX on left, with coordinate values (This moves this box to the right, and renders it editable)
Now, PRESS BOX on RIGHT, upper part of screen (This is the previous box, but it can now be edited)
This now brings up the FULL northing, easting, and elev, and it takes over the screen. It can now be edited.
After editing, hit OK, in the Lower Right.
and, OK again, on the lower right. This last OK seems essential.
