If tilt is on…. And you press start….

I think something like the other optional splash screens that are currently implemented would work for that. Or some other optional dramatic thing (like a sound, or making the tilt/azimuth icon flash magenta a few times, perhaps).

This could be turned on or off with a setting in the same place that tilt correction is turned on. I think there are times when the dramatic notification is useful as Nate has pointed out, but I don't want it on all the time. Most of the time I just want the new icon (colored red would be OK).

If there are 2 users in the field, and one turns it on, and the other goes to take a shot, he needs a warning. Even if it's at the end of the observation, at screen shot. One splash, "Tilt corrected". None of us are going to check everything, for every shot.
Eric does not want an overly annoying splash, I do want it. Because we won't use it alot. If it's a solo user, maybe the icon is enough. But when multiple users/clients/contractors are all making noise, I want a splash. How about if it gets a splash as default, but if it bugs somebody enough, they can turn it off at the same place where tilt corrections are turned off and on. So, default is on. A short splash seems good.

I'd be quite happy with splash ON by default. A swift kick in the pants just to make sure I'm paying attention, then I can check the "Don't Show Again" box. :)

For example, I have a handy "lift and tilt" profile for shooting general topo. A mandatory manual dismissal of a splash screen every shot would defeat the purpose of that profile.

I wonder if there could be useful options like "Don't show again today", "Don't show again for this base session", "Don't show until next profile change", or something similar...

I have described in another thread how I have my profiles set up to be able to toggle the tilt compensator with a single button press, indicate on the action screen whether it is on or not, and make different tones for tilt on and tilt off. I'm all for the proposed icon on the compass button, and red is fine with me. I'm not sure a splash screen would be helpful. If it persists, it would be a nuisance, and if it didn't persist, it wouldn't help. I have been using different tones ever since I discovered it was possible about a year ago and I can say that it is very noticeable. I have often hit the start button, heard the wrong sound and immediately known I don't have it set right. Survey Tones are available for fixed, float, dgps, and standalone. That would be awesome if tilt were added to that list.

Sorry, guys, I need to add more details due to confusion of this picture. The idea is that if no Tilt Compensation On it will look like

here T means it is on. The Time icon means the way to Start|Stop the Collection process.
If Tilt Off, then Leveling Bubble is On and shows laveling.

If Leveled it turns to

Making it Red is not really good idea for color blind people. We can make it Yellow if that is really make sense.

Regards,
Eugene.

Please add something to the screen, big enough, and obvious enough, to get the attention, of a second crew member, who just got it handed to him. And does not know it is on. I don't care really what it is. Even when you press start, let it say "Tilt", and or an icon, that moves across the screen, and has yellow letters, outlined in red. Good thinking about the color blind people.

I like this Eugene and I think it is sufficient. The point about colors and the colorblind is a valid consideration. I know a fellow who contributes here at times who is in fact colorblind. I'm sure he appreciates the consideration. I think if you had the T flash 3 times at start it would help bring the attention that Nate wants.

I should confess what I'm doing. I've got 2 sons, 14 yrs old, and 16 yrs old. They like running the LS. I am using the LS to teach surveying to them. I want to be sure this does not sneak up and bite them.
