I'm wondering... Average of RTK, AND PPK?

Ok... So Matthew, if we had it as an option, after dpos, when we have both rtk, and ppk, that we have a routine, to "make separate points, from rtk, and ppk points"
Now, we can avg them. I sorta think we MIGHT want a different avg program for this.
Just think... We shoot a point 3x. This now makes 6 points, for one single survey mark.. Using avg for this really makes sense. But, if one point were an outlier, maybe we'd want to either be able to turn off the outlier. Or, we'd want it to treat things differently, so it flags us about the outlier.
Just thinking...
Btw, great idea, Matthew!

I don’t want it to automatically create a separate point after DPOS I want to review the points and create the PPK separate point after I see how well they match the RTK. I think the cluster average that we have now will be fine after the PPK points are created.

I'll go along with that.
That will take some time manually, to select which shots get rtk, ppk, and which ones get both.
And, for point naming, allowing it to be just like avg is now would work. Mine just adds the letter A to the end of the point name, as a suffix.
So, point 101 could look like this, if the user desired:
Rtk 101
Ppk 101P
Average 101A
I like it.
Ideas?

I add a number to the first point in the cluster. So I shoot an iron pin as 100,101&102. I add 1 to the front making my averages point 1100. If I had the ability to create a new point with the PPK shot I would probably make that point no 1100 and add a 3 to the front making my averaged point no 3100.

I do this because my CAD program does not allow alphanumeric point numbers.

What ever has to be done to help keep point numbers straight and easy to remember.

If you had a copy of carlson, and 2 days of training, you would likely get along with it.
I've stayed with 2009. B/c intellicad was not so good. I bet though, if I had 2 days of training, i could migrate to it.... Old dog not like new tricks...!

I have used Carlson in the past and didn't mind it. My problem with Carlson is the file structure system where all of the crd files go in one folder. I want all related documentation/files to go into a file with the current project. It is all a matter of preference I know. I just do not want to spend 3K (I need the autocad version because of the lisp routines that I use.) on a software when I have one that works well.

Yep, crd gets stored in the folder for the project under Carlson projects if it is set up that way.

Many years ago I used Eagle Point with full Autocad. When I first started with Carlson(2007) it was with "embedded Cad engine", kind of Autocad lite. It took a while, but I got used to and did not need full ACad.
Last year I updated to Carlson 2017 with Intellicad. THe Intellicad is much better now and we have weaned the whole office off of Autocad. Took awhile, but they are pretty well satisfied with working with it for most things now.

I have figured this out. You can have two points on the same pin one with RTK coordinates and one with PPK coordinates.

This will come in handy to increase the relative precision of each point and not have to do anything different in the field to get it.

After your field work is done and you have submitted everything to DPOS now you have the possibility of either using the RTK solution or the PPK solution. If the two coordinates are in agreement with each other highlight PPK and make it active. Now go into collect and hit the offsets white box. Use direct and enter 0 az. and 0 distance. Give the resulting point a new number and give it a description and then hit create. Now go back to points and switch the coordinate back to RTK and now you have two separate points for the same pin. The resulting PPK point can now be used in the cluster averaging and used in the relative precision calculations.

I think it would be nice if when you depos it had an option (check box) to store all static points as there own point. Maybr have an acceptance criteria from the RTK.
