If you go to "Data Exchange-Import" down at the bottom right you see a button that says "show". If you tap on that it will show you what kinds of files that can be imported.

Text files
Autocad Files (dwg & dxf)
Shapefiles
XML files

Data Exchange/Import shows generic import options for points and lines. Next you can convert any imported polyline to an alignment via Stake - (Switch to Alignment Points or Alignment Stake-Here) - Stake Line command.
On the other hand, alignments can be directly imported from LandXML via Stake - Open Alignment - Import, and in this case some alignment-specific details, such as starting station value, are preserved.
