In the rain too...

It's a theory I heard on Surveyor Connect. If a microwave oven can heat a material then it impedes the GPS signal, if it does not heat the material then it does not impede GPS. I don't know if it is true, but if Nate is going to test the affect of the material on the signal, it might be fun to try the microwave test too.

OK, microwave does not heat it. I wanted it to have a curved surface, to prevent it from holding much water. I cannot imagine that there is *much* difference between a WET antenna top, and a WET cover over the antenna. I simply don't know.
In teaching my kids, I teach them about relationships. A person I know, shacked up with his girlfriend, for a couple of years. This was his "Gittin by woman" (to get him by). He had no intent to marry her. No pics on facebook...
Later, he dumped her, and married some gal, who was better looking... This was "his woman". Plasters pics of her all over facebook.

This flexible plastic cover is my "Gittin by" cover. I hope to come up with a long term solution. But, as life is, we sometimes use temporary solutions.

I am posting this solution to look for criticism. Adam posted some. The idea that it increases it's potential to blow over is important. Thanks Adam.

I can live with that... because often when EVENTS start happening, they come with wind. Good thinking, Adam.

Usually I just have 2 or 3 shots more to get, and I don't have to return to a job. Then the rain hits. This would let me "Get by".

Using the screen lock, I can do alot.

In a reference back to the old canister prism units, we used to use clear silicone to GLUE the prism in place, and seal the backside, to keep water out of them. Same deal. So we could work in a bit of rain. It is terrible to go to a job, and find the prism all fogged up, so back you cannot get a return signal.

IMG_4420-s.jpg OK, here we are today. Raining. Wearing frogg toggs. Water proof hat. I think we are good, with the "bonnet" and the gear.
IMG_4423-s.jpgAnd, this is Princess. She wanted to go with me. Time for a "Javad Story". I figured out that I can use the LS autonomously, without a base. And, that will get me close. Search with pin finder, and hey! ----- not so fast buster! Teh big yellow machine has got the rebar. So, I go to set the base up. Princess says "I'm hungry"... ok, where does princess want to eat? "That place that has chips" (Mexican food). We go and eat. Go back, set the base up, locate most of the pins. Several are gone. Reset them. It rains. I gear up, and keep going. Princess sits on the porch, staying dry. She wants to go home. Princess is 3. I finally get the last pin in, and return to base. I suddenly realize, I had not set the HI on the base. Bummer. It is set at 6 ft. Reality is 5.56'. I measure it. and Change it at the POINTS menu. Maybe that will update the elevations. ... Don't know for sure.
Get all done. I had my base recording at 30" interval. My mind wanders. Maybe someday, I will make my own CORS station. We are some 80 miles to the closest one.

Well, I paid Princess, and bought her some dollies, and candy. Princess hears dad say "Honey, this is 'at work'. We don't quit till we are done. Princess cuts grass with her scissors. She rides atv. She finally likes GETTING PAID! Never know. Princess may make a surveyor!

we had a fairly productive day today. A bunch of creek shots. My LS was a little goofed up, as I did not have any Bideu or Galileo sats. Still got the creek. 8FBBDB90-3932-4BC6-9A87-9340C00DCB6E.jpeg
