J-Tip Handle

I bought some vinyl tubing, and pressed it on top of J-Tip. Now, when I want a handle, I can cut a twig, or branch, trim with pocketknife, press into the tubing, and now i have a handle for J-Tip.
I put J-Tip inside a sock, to protect it, in my vest pocket.

Actually I'm not laughing at all. I could have done it in the same way. For us, your natural handle example has a special meaning..

Well, when a 50 cent solution will do, why use a 50 dollar one?
Maybe bending over is not so fun, as i age...
Ya'll is laughin', but it works...

Nate;
with your invention, you are saving the planet and Transylvania, just by doing the things surveyors do all the time to save a little work, save a little time, avoid carrying stuff, way to g:) br:). Prince Charles would be proud.

No one is laughing my friend we all improvise. Most if not all surveyors that I know are pretty handy fellows like yourself. In 1981 I had to climb a good size mountain just inland from the Red Sea in Saudi Arabia in 100+ degrees heat.
Had to set up a T2 (overkill but that's all we had to work with) to do some resection just to find out where the hell we were in a mountain range. (only defense mapping available at that time over there. ) Also did barometric leveling on some parts of the job
Yeah we left the tripod in the truck and built a stone cairn tripod on top of the mountain.
If only we had the JPACK, L.S. JPOD and Jmate back then.

Yeah, i think it DOES make J-Tip worth more. Because, it is now with me nearly always, and has a throw away handle, so it condenses my tools even more.
I could get a brass nut, have a little loop of brass, or copper brazed to it. And pretty well accomplish the same thing. Or soldiered to it...

John, I'm a creature of habit. I use a Hixon pole, with bipod. Hixon pole bubbles nearly never get out of adjust. They go up 12', and a bit more, with the bipod. I'm used to them.
Also, due to a tick bite, I have equlibrium troubles. It wears me out, to hold a pole still.
So, I use a bipod.
I use monopole for long trecks in the woods.
I have a spike on my monopole, to stick it in the ground....
Thanks,
Nate

Nate,
Do you rely entirely on the J-Tip? I am trying to become comfortable enough with it to be able to just use it.
I feel if I knew more about how to tweak the settings or "dial it in"...It would work great.
There just is not enough information out there on how to use it fully. What would help is if there were some "pre-set" selections on tones etc and you could just roll through options 1-5 until you found what worked best.

Any tips?

This is another example for the need for a dynamic, on line, with user input manual.
See this thread: https://support.javad.com/index.php?threads/new-users-manual-proposal.4325/
It looks like the JAVAD team is not interested in this concept.

J-tip truth.
I keep it in my vest pocket. I use it part of the time. I don't have it all figured out.
I keep a shonstedt pistol in the box, on the back of the ATV.
I keep a shonstedt GA-52, and a GA 72 in the truck.
The 52 needs batteries. The pistol needs repairs, as it cannot be extended, except 1/2 way, without something messing up.
My 1st choice is usually the GA 52. It's the longest, and I'm tall.
2nd is the pistol, as it is with me, in the ATV.
And, I can keep using the LS, without interruption.
If I knew how to consistently adjust sensitivity, in the J-tip, it'd help. Things have changed 3x, since getting the J tip, and I had it figured out, until they changed its software location, and I've not gotten it figured out.
My main comment is SIMPLIFY IT. And, more volume. I'm poor in hearing.
But, I can get it working most any time I need to. Just a bit clunky.
