Javad’s passing

We all owe a JAVAD a debt of gratitude. He was a pioneer in GPS and GNSS. News of his death from COVID-19 was just released on LinkedIn via Mark Cheves from American Surveyor. I was fortunate to have met him 6 years ago at his San Jose headquarters. He made an impression on me that I still remember today. Brilliant, independent, and at times, humorous. He will be missed.

Terrible news, very sad for his family.

Did he have a succession plan in place at Javad GNSS? It seems like he was at the center of everything, so I'm wondering what the corporate survival strategy is now.

I know any statements of condolences I could offer will be kind of trite, but my heart goes out to everyone here who's been hurt by this loss. I feel now like the heart and soul of this company has been taken, and I hope that the Javad GNSS will be able to go on as before and continue to expand on his great legacy. His contributions to the survey community and innovative vision are far too important to let fall by the wayside. I regret that I never got to meet him in person - I always admired his drive and quirky genius.

I am in shock to learn of the loss of Javad. I want to express my deepest condolences and prayers to his family and everyone in the company.
I always hoped to meet him someday. The world has lost a genius and surveyors have lost a dear friend.

I know there are plans for the organization to continue on, but I would ask that we give his family and colleagues, many of whom have worked with Javad for decades, the opportunity to mourn this unexpected loss of our dear friend, Javad, before pressing for plans for the future. His children are intimately involved in the business already, let's give them some time to grieve.

Truely a loss for the whole surveying community, whether they are JAVAD GNSS customers or not.
It was remarkable that an ordinary surveyor such as myself could send a note, and get a reply from the father of surveying GPS.
I think he strived every day to improve the surveying profession.

COVID finally hits home - RIP my friend.

So sorry to read this news. What a full life! Javad spent his life making my life better, for which I am grateful. I got a chuckle a few months ago when he wrote that he was healthy as a horse and had no intention of dying anytime soon. This was to soon if I had my druthers. Man knows not his time, and it behooves us all to be ready for that day. It will be here before we know it.
