Andrew,

I appreciate how long a battery should last when being stored but I continue to have problems.

I used my radio for a total of 2.75 hours on a Saturday, after a full overnight charge. I had the radio set to the lowest output setting. 40 MW I believe, during the Saturday work.

Let it sit Sunday and tried Monday morning to do some work. Battery only lasted about 3 minutes.

I charged the unit again and used it on Wednesday for more that 5 hours at 1 full watt. I am going to set it up today to see if power remains and I will let you know.

Each of the three instances where the battery was depleted after a week or so of sitting, I was able to provide external power and I completed my tasks. I am afraid that one day I will not have this luxury and I will fail to complete a project and disappoint a client or two.

I need a new battery just for piece of mind. Is there an accessory that will allow me to connect a small 12v battery, for when I cannot get my vehicle near the setup? Is there a way to test battery capacity prior to a work session?

Dear Ralph,

HPT901BT with new battery (after full charging) can be stored for more than six months in the switched-off state. Please note that HPT901BT storage at high temperatures reduces the battery charge level too. We will add battery power status to ModemVU or NetView software.

The LED lights indicate the power status:

You should see a solid green light when the charger is plugged and the battery has reached full charge.

You would just need a ring terminal to SAE wire harness to connect a 12 volt battery to your existing charger.

Gentlemen,

I've had another episode where the battery in question appeared to be depleted after several days of sitting in my office after a day of approximately 3.25 hours of Beast Mode use at the lowest power setting , 40 mw, I believe.

Three days later the unit would only operate for about 30 seconds.

I need to have this unit looked at for a solution or a battery replacement.

I have been fortunate in that each time the battery failed, I was able to attach external power from a vehicle. I am sure one day this is not going to be the case. I can only be without the unit for a very short time, so I will be sending the unit back overnight and expect it to be returned with the same alacrity, please.

Provide me with an RMA number at your earliest convenience so I can get this problem taken care of.
