I can get back to you by Jan 9. For now please use the Base/Rover setup of your TRIUMPH-LS to work with T3. I assume you want to use your T3 as base. Right?

No rush to get back to me regarding this issue. You obviously have more important stuff to deal with a JMT update.
I planned to use the new T-3 in place of my current T-2 to collect cell site locations when I am unable to receive CRTN corrections in the Los Angeles area. I prefer to use the CRTN but when it is not available, I resort to collecting data with the T-2 and send data to DPOS via iPhone.
Of course I will always use my T-3 as a base for my LS, . The increased performance and capability is something I have been anticipating since I first heard about it. I use the T-2/LS combination for all of my control work and topographic data collection, when the project allows.
Unfortunately, I have learned that my LS (00291) does not contain the appropriate hardware to communicate with my T-3. I have received an RMA and the LS is scheduled for return to JAVAD GNSS on the 6th.
Thank you for your response. I hope you have a great nNew Year!

Dear Ralph,
Current beta of JMT supports T3, release of JMT is going to be available after the holidays - January 9th.
Thank you for the congratulations and have a best New Year!

Gentlemen,

I have just been informed that the hardware update to my LS (00291), required in order to communicate with my T-3, is probably going to take a month or more.

I have been without a GPS system for more than two weeks, and now you tell me you are asking the factory to get to this RMA first? Seriously?

First, I am very disappointed that I was not informed that I would need to be without my LS for a month or more when I made the purchase. Yes, I asked to expedite the purchase for tax purposes and I appreciate that, but I had no Idea that I would not be able to use either the LS or the T-3 for a month or more.

I need an LS that is capable of working with my T-3, as soon as possible. Please, make arrangements to send me a loaner LS that can function with my T-3 as soon as possible. I have projects waiting. I only have a T-2 and JMT available now and this leaves me unable to do most of my work.

And while you are at it, send me some sort of quick start guide or a some sort of notes or tips regarding how to incorporate the T-3 into my workflow. I collect both RTK/base data and I use the CRTN almost every day. I need to be able to do that with the T-3.

Thanks

Shawn,
I have been in contact with Michael Glutting since about September of 2019 regarding this purchase. It wasn't until after I took delivery of the T-3 in late December that the issue with the LS was discovered. He has responded today via email about checking the status of the upgrade of the LS but has not returned my phone call.
I was not given a estimated completion time and I did not push for one. I have been informed twice, about a week apart, that the unit had been received and learned yesterday that it was in line for the upgrade. Still no ETA.
If it takes months, I don't care. I need an LS so that I can produce the products that I have contracted to provide. My LS and T-2 are an important part of my tool box. I rely on them daily. Right now I only have a T-2 and JMT. That is not enough for what I need to do.
Shawn, I appreciate you providing some guidance on how I should proceed in this matter and perhaps if you had been involved from the beginning, you could provide a helpful hand in achieving a resolution. Somehow, and I sincerely mean this with all due respect, "contact your dealer" just doesn't rise to the high standards of performance and service that I have experienced and continue to expect from JAVAD GNSS.
I guess you can tell that I am frustrated. I apologize for the Rant.
Ralph

No apology needed. I can understand your frustration. Javad does offer rentals during repairs. I believe the cost of renting a Triumph-LS is $850. The rental lasts until you get your receiver back (so if it is a week or two months, the cost is only $850).

I only suggest that you work through your dealer because he should be best able to resolve your issues expediently. I understand it seems like a deflection, but it's meant to help you get back to work as quickly as possible.

Hi Ralph,

Our repair team has been working diligently on your TRIUMPH-LS but unfortunately was not able to complete the rework and test process more quickly. They advised this work will be completed tomorrow morning. I will follow up tomorrow morning after 10 am, Pacific Time, and then I or my colleague Andrey will in turn follow up with you. I have also called and left you voicemail with this detail.

Just to be clear to anyone reading this thread, the compatibility issue that Ralph is experiencing with his Triumph-LS and Triumph-3 is related to the radios. His Triumph-LS has a frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) and his new Triumph-3 has a UHF radio. The solution is to install a "two kings" radio in the Triumph-LS that can be set to FHSS or UHF, this way he can work with his existing equipment and his new base.

For the vast majority of customers, there will be no compatibility issue between the new Triumph-3 and existing Triumph-LS receivers.

Thanks for that clarification Shawn. Is there any updated word on when the LS will be available with the new chip/board? I want to place a couple orders but want both T3 and LS with new chip. Last I heard it was toward end of 1rst quarter this year.

What will be the benefit of the new chip/board? Will this be a requirement to take full advantage of the additional constellations available with the T-3 versus the T-2 base? As far as the possibility of upgrading an existing LS - is there a certain serial number at which this is or isn't an option and will an upgrade give the same power and function as a new LS with the new chip/board? From the current reports it sounds like an upgrade from the T-2 base is a no brainer for those of us working primarily in the woods and March isn't far away if additional benefits are forthcoming.
