Leica tilt compensation

Have you guys seen the new Leica rover with their true tilt compensation?
Taking leveling out of data collection will save a lot of time.
Their demo video is in a complete open area though.

Exactly. And the calibration free tilt compensation is only good for about 30 seconds (if I recall correctly from the video). Which means it would have limited utility in canopy, I'd think.

There will never be a system, that 100 percent gets rid of the level bubble. I was taking shots near a machine shop... Some time back. Big motors inside. Magnetism like crazy.
And, other items, that mess with compass, etc.
Q Javad umbrella option... Could really compute tilts, etc.
But any MAGNETIC directional system, around iron... Well it's gonna need a plumb pole.

Leveling is time consuming and speeding it up would be nice.
In previous posts I mentioned an audible signal when level might help. It would sound for a few seconds when the unit becomes level.
I still haven't figured out how the leveling box correlates to movement of the rod to level it.

I believe Leica is using gyros that are calibrated by motion of the receiver combined with fixed solutions in the receiver. Gyros are not affected by magnetism, but they drift over time (Inertial Measuring Unit). So to keep the accuracy within error budget, the gyros must be calibrated very often, however, this is done automatically, unlike magnetometers which must be manually calibrated. Magnetometers have the advantage of not drifting over time like gyros do.

For those of use that don't use the heads up bubble camera display, a larger leveling box with arrows at right angles pointing in the direction of level would help.
Bipods could be improved also but that is an other issue.
