Loose thread adapter

Hi All, as I took my new LS out in the field for the first time on friday, I noticed that the thread adapter kept coming loose, allowing the unit to wobble on the pole. I don't want to lock-tite it, and am debating using a brass star washer or lock washer to secure it. Are there other solutions to this? Thanks!

Mine did the same thing.
I took a plastic motor oil bottle, cut out a little flat washer, with a 1/4" hole in it. This goes between the adapter, and the LS. Works fine. It may get old and less flexible, but it's served well so far.

Please send me a photo. Or explain more details for me to understand the problem. Thanks.

I am using the thread adapter to connect the LS to my usual survey pole and bipod. The adapter was hand tightened only. The thread adapter is threaded onto a leica style bayonet mount. When I carry the unit over my shoulder between points, the LS spun and loosened itself from thread adapter, so became loose and "wobbly". It did several times over 4 hours. I took Nates suggestion and made a little 1" square out of thin, tough plastic (from a retail blister package), punched a hole in it, and used it as a lock washer. At this time, it seems to be a solution, but the real test will come next week when I am back in the field.

Thanks Nate, it looks like that makes a good solution!

For it to work properly, it should compress just a little.
Perhaps for a long-term solution, machine a groove, into the top of the adapter, and install an O ring. This would allow the O ring to compress, and yet dimensions would be retained.
Our little plastic washers work, but add 1/2 mm or such to the height.
Whatever you use to make plastic washer, should perhaps flex just a little, (when tightened), as this is it's locking mechanism.
