LS auto positioning for Base

Hello again all,

Just seeing if anyone has had any issues using the auto positioning on the LS used as a base? I have tried to use it a few times now and during the base setup and it just keeps looping back to the auto position screen and I never end up getting an RTK fix at all.

Has anyone else encountered this? I am using the latest updates with both of my LS's.

Thanks in advance.

Actually possibility to use Triumph LS as a base station is not implemented yet. And at the moment the isssue has low priority. May be our 5PLS can increase the priority.

Hi Michael,

It would be nice to have since I use an LS for a base and I also have one as a rover.... I don't know how many of us are out there using 2 LS's, but the auto positioning would be quite handy in some instances.

We need it too. Also DynDns support for using LS as base in cellular networks is essential.

We have talked about this several times in the past. The things that I see that need high priority are:

  • Fix Auto Positioning

  • Add a screen for base antenna height

  • Update Select Coordinate screen, currently we have a very old screen (Andrey's Task)

  • Update TCP Server screen to the one found in Base/Rover Setup

We was going to create a special screen (like Base/Rover but simpler) for controlling the LS as base. I dislike wizard style for this case. May be implement special screen and remove setup as base from wizard?
I think fixing of the Auto positioning is just a tip of the aceberg.

Why not just use what we have with Base/Rover Setup and treat the base LS the same as if it were a T2 or T1-M? I think we almost have to use Base/Rover Setup to start and stop the base to be able to use DPOS don't we?

It is much easier to implement the Base setup screen from scratch than to adapt the Base/Rover for the task esspesially in communication part. It takes more time and produce bugs in existing Base/Rover setup.
Of couse I will reuse the maximum logic functionality in the screen.
May be later we will merge those two screens into one but not now.

Hi guys, I know it hasn't been very long but is there any update with the base auto positioning yet?

Thanks in advance.

Try and bump this one back up to the top for a little more discussion... I'm currently using an LS as a rover and base. The auto function would be very handy for me... Currently I have either been adding a control point then using select from list. If I'm just setting up in a random position I leave the base setup for a few minutes then use the collect screen to capture an approximate position of the base, I then need to input a point to select. I have tried Auto base position and enter position with no luck. I haven't been keeping up to date with any software updates as of the last few weeks so I don't know if this has been fixed or not.

A Bluetooth setup option like what happens with a Triumph 1 or 2 would be advantageous when setting up an LS as a base.

Any help appreciated to make my field work a little more streamlined....

Hi guys,

Havent been very active on this forum for a long time due to a move to New Zealand from Australia. Just seeing if these has been any movement on the LS as a base setup situation?

Once again any help appreciated, seems to be the only thing getting in the way of a good workflow at the moment.

Just curious - is there any specific benefit to having the LS as a base, instead of a Triumph 1 or 2? Or is it just because some people have 2 LS's?

You have more opions. Say you have 3 LS's. You can run all 3 as network rovers. You can run a base with 2 rovers. You can run 1 base rover and 1 off the network. You never have to upgrade, because you already read all satellite's. However in my area (Kentucky), the CORS network just isn't worth messing with in my opion. There isn't enough coverage. I like to run my own base. Even of there was good CORS coverage cell phone service is an issue and it's just something else to worry with. I know other states have better coverage as far as CORS network and cell coverage.

It allows you to utilize the full potential of all your receivers. The biggest drawback right now, is you have to do some math to get your heights correct, and you have to manually download your base file, and once in the LS that was used as the Rover, attach it.

I have 2 and the main reason was flexibility, able to scale up in the future and All Constellations.

Will this come in a release, or is there such a thing as a patch, etc. I think you could sell LS to LS systems very easily, if the base/rover issue was resolved. This thread started 2 years ago, next month. Just wondering if it will be implemented, and if so, any timeline to shoot for. It may not be high priority, if so that is fine, would just like some know if it can be done and if so, will it.
