LS auto positioning for Base

I have a client who has 2 pcs of TLS, both with internal UHF, they have no other receiver. Generally they will use TLS as VRS network rover, but in the deep walleys of Transilvania they wat to use one TLS as UHF base, the other as UHF rover. We surprised very much that this is not possible. They ordered the radio just because of this. Now it seems that they payed for nothing.

You can use the LS as a base but not with an external radio yet. You need to collect a point with the WAAS float profile and recall that point to broadcast from. The ability to use a repeater is going to be developed but isn’t there yet.

Matt, I do not want to use external radio on the TLS base, or a repeater, because I have internal radio. But I do not know how to start the base with its internal radio. I created an UHF RTK base profile in Setup/General group. Then I tapped the radio icon on the top. I can see here that data is transmitting. On the rover LS I created an UHF RTK rover profile, every setting was the same, but when I tapped the radio icon I can see, that no correction is coming. The RSSI is excellent (-42 dBm), but on the right side of the screen I can see that nothing is received. I compared the rover and base screen of UHF, everything was the same, except Protocol. On the base it was "Javad, 2,0", on the rover it was "Javad, 1,2". But I can not change this, i think this difference is not important. Every other parameter is the same. Why can not I receive correction ?

It may have to do with your JFIELD version on the base. I remember Michael mentioning that a change in one of the Jfield updates made it to where the base would not transmit. If you send me your email address I may be able to forward you an older version and have you install it on your base and see if that works.

Base LS works on latest release. I tested with a customer this week.

Hey Zoltan, It is J-Field version 2.1.0.35. Pre release and release now match. It looks like you are on the testing version.

When you edit the general group profile to start the base you must select the point. Autonomous positioning isn't working yet.

Also the h i of the base is not applied. Some have been adjusting Rod Heights at the Rover. I think it is a more fluid process if the base point elevation is adjusted for the height of the rod and the distance from the ARP to the APC.

Adam, the problem solved ! Collegues from Moskaw helped me. On Javad Protocol screen RX mode was "Receive from Base". They changed it to "Auto Detect". Now my LS base transmitting correction, and the rover is receiving. Regarding to height of the base, when you select Setup and edit the General Group, select "Advanced" on Operating mode screen. Then select Antenna, and you can set the height and measurement mode.

I don't believe that is working correctly. I could be mistaken though. My understanding is that the broadcasted corrections are related to the apc. Have you checked into other control or compare with DPOS sessions?

I still find that the antenna height and and ARP do not get configured properly. The easiest way to check this is to connect the LS to Netveiw & Modem through the serial port.

I checked the rover on other known points. It was correct (but the points were 20 m from the base). When I configured the base I selected "Select from the list" on Base Position screen, and then I selected the right point in the list. Telling the truth first time the position of the rover was not correct, the difference was about 1 m. But I repeated the base setup, and then rover became correct.

In my testing the user had to do one of two things.

1. add the height of the rod and then subtract the arp to apc distance to the rover antenna height to get the correct elevation or

2. add the height of the rod and then subtract the arp to apc distance from the base point elevation.

I like option 2 because there is no monkeying around with the rover antenna heights. One only has to compute another point for the base and call it something like base apc height so there is no confusion of the actual point on the ground elevation. DPOS works well with this method. if option one is used then the DPOS elevations will all be off by the aforementioned height difference. One would have to change all the HRs to get correct DPOS elevations but then the rtk elevations would be wrong.

Zoltan, can you post a project where it is working correctly for you?
