LS External Antenna Port Damaged

Our LS unit took an unfortunate fall while the external antenna was attached. It landed on the antenna which bent the connection into the LS unit. The LS unit seems to be working fine but I'm wondering if it worthwhile to send this in to get fixed and checked out. I worry about the unit possibly no longer being water proof and causing further damage. See photos attached and let me know what would be the best course of action.

I think it needs to be sent in for the reason you stated. Water.

They will need the s.n. of the LS and your shipping information to create an RMA.

Okay I think we will send it in. I was looking at the Javad accessories page for an adapter that could attach the top mounting nut that has the slots for the protective bumpers to a 5/8" rod but I am not seeing anything on there. Anyone else run into this issue that has come up with a fix? Or found the correct adapter somewhere else? It should be a 5/8"-11 female to a 3/8-16 female in order to attach the rod to the mounting nut. A 5/8 male to 3/8 female would also work but the 5/8 thread would need to be long enough to be stable when screwed into the rod.

Not having the mounting nut with protective bumpers is one of the downsides of not using the J-Pole.

It was quite a while ago. So I do not remember exactly. I chose to go with a used case (some slight scratches) and I think it was $900.

Just a thought. I'd like it if Javad and company made a little bumper that enclosed it. I'm thinking to go to the local welder to get one made. Question: would it in any way impede the operation?
I've envisioned the gps data as a pouring rain. That bounces in little balls, about 3/8" diameter, that bounce in all dir a little guard rail frame seems that it would or could interrupt the flow?

If I ever get this done...

It’s too big and aggressive. I crawl through woods, briars, and the like.
I like it for the construction site. It lifts it up some. Mud and the like.
Thanks.

I am playing with a 3D printed cover sort of like what Nathaniel K. Niday made. Hopefully it will absorb a full impact and save the unit/antenna from a fall.

Pics of my solution, wood block routed for antenna clearance, laminated on outside with a Formica countertop "lip" that protrudes enough to engage the slots in the housing. This prevents it from moving sideways. This give me much greater peace of mind on those brush choked properties that much of my work is in.

Duane: Great design. It does not obstruct the charging port. Formica engaging the groves is much improvement over my "Shoe Goo", a thin coat, roughly applied and let it dry to the edge against the LS to keep the protector from slipping around. I'll have to look in my shipping boxes, I don't remember getting the carrying strap "ears".

There was a time when the ears were an option that needed to be specified and paid for to be installed in the unit at time of purchase. They may be standard equipment now.

Yes it hooks into the "ear", holds the shield in place well. I use the "ear" on the other side coupled with a hole in my monopod tip to attach a carry strap using the old "Michaels" quick release rifle swivels.
