LS+ screen locked in the field

It was about 1:00 p.m., and the temperature in Northeast Mississippi was 95° with a heat index of 105°. Last week, my T3 quit broadcasting twice. Today, my LS+ screen froze. It was pretty hot outside, and the LS unit felt very hot. It is now 9:15 pm in my A/C house, and my LS unit is still has a frozen screen. No combination of buttons work. No long press “ON/OFF” to reboot, and no response to any screen buttons. Last resort is to go through the “change battery“ routine that I found through a YouTube video that linked back to the Java’s website. This was the recommended solution from Shawn Billings. I probably exceeded the maximum operating temperature for the unit in this oppressive heat wave we are now experiencing. My work solution for the rest of the summer is to work from daylight to noon. By that time, I am about to overheat! I drank 3 liters of water this morning, and about 48 ounces when I got home. It is HOT outside! Y’all Southern boys be careful out there and don’t overdo it.

Success upon getting the LS unit to turn off. I needed a very small metric torx bit to remove the 8 screws on the back of the unit. I remembered that I had two small Allen wrenches in my Leica TCR 1105 instrument box, and one of them happened to be the right size. I removed the back cover and both batteries from the cavity. I used the attached plastic strips on both sides of both battery packs to pull the tight fitting battery packs out. I unplugged each battery, let it sit for a few minutes, plugged them back in, and then reinserted the battery packs, being careful with the three single-wires and two three-wire bundles, tucking them in to that small space between the battery packs and the inside of the unit. When finished, I turned the unit on, and everything seems to work OK.
However, something else is wrong. My unit wanted to synchronize the data first, and then indicated success in doing so. It did that twice last week when the T3 unit lost connection. Next, I went to my project points and hit the DPOS key, noting the message “base downloaded, awaiting request to download.”
I tried to send my work points to Javad for DPOS, but when my unit was instructed to send the data, I got the message “awaiting DPOS server connection,” there was a long pause, then I got the message “no service available currently.” This happened last night and again this morning. My home router is working, and I tried my mobile phone as a wi-if hotspot without success. Now I am at a loss as what to do next. Is the Javad server really unavailable or down, or do I have another issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Options update, internet connection established, current OAF is up-to-date.
My unit is already updated with the latest updates. Javad website is working.

DPOS debug box unchecked. Tried checking that, no connection established.
”No service available currently.”
Something else is going on. I am at a loss as what to do next.
”Probably the server” from local support. Will wait an try again later.

Abra-Cadabra! The problem “worked itself out.”
You know how when you take your car to a mechanic to fix a noise you have been hearing for a few days, and you pull up to the mechanic’s shop for him to listen, and your car starts purring like a kitten and not making “that noise,” and the mechanic says, “what noise?” Red-faced, you say……”uh…..um…..well……”
Shawn Billings got on remote assist, did the same thing I did, and Abra-Cadabra……it worked!
Apologies offered, Shawn. I guess my LS+ unit knew not to mess with you! Scared it into working again!
Thanks, Javad, for a top-notch support team.

Dear Harold, It is not required to disassemble the unit to turn it off, actually. Moreover it is a bad idea to disconnect batteries completely as it leads to lose collected battery statistics that used by charger for better management and time of discharge forecast. The power button should react on the long 20sec hold and it doesn't related to any software control. Sometimes it is difficult to hold it that long preventing bounce effect, but it should turn unit off unconditionally.
Regards,
Eugene.

That was a miscommunication on my part. I thought you understood what I meant when I texted to you to long press the power button to force the unit to turn-off. I was surprised when you said you had done that and it didn't work. I should have pressed more on that because I had never heard of an LS not turning off by pressing and holding the power button for several seconds.

Another poster said that the "long press" to turn the unit off should be a long 20-second + press, not just a "long press" for a few seconds.
