Migrating Triumph-LS to Linux OS

3.0.0.193 update is solving the issue(fails on relatively old projects) related to import of WinCE projects at "Restore Data" stage.
You can repeat "Restore Data" with inserted migration USB stick and complete migration successfully.

Got it. The problem in your current project "Paulin Survey" at point with name "188". There is "0" in ReferenceTime instead of the real value. To be safe, I have edited this project's DataBase and now the point opens and doesn't make problems in Archiving. I set the ReferenceTime to vale of the point which should not be a right way, but at least you can fix this point manually(edit / delete ). Attached data.db should be unzipped and your current file(VS Data\Maps\Paulin Survey\data.db) replaced with this one. You need to download, unzip to USB flash, insert it into LS, exit from JField to Windows, Run File explorer and overwrite existing db file(better, backup existing one!). Good luck!

I was trying to import ypur projects into JField on Linux, but failed for all of them. Errors on unpacking. Also there are three projects were active, but 24 more are saved before. Probably on your device all willbe okay. You can migrate to Linux, but be aware that "Restore Data" process may fail on importing projects and Settings will not be applied in the end.

Eugene, I will follow your instructions tomorrow morning and see how it goes. I don't understand why my unit and projects are so different and failed in your attempts.

It is not different, just some projects have DATA.DB file in upper case instead of lower. But we expect on Linux only lower case. I have fixed this on Importing.

Eugene, thank you much for your help. With this new data.db file, everything worked as it should and all my projects and setting were successfully imported back into my LS.
Thanks!!!!

Does this mean that linux now accepts caps? Or, does it mean it changes it to lower case?
It does mean that while importing any of saved Projects we check the DATA.DB for capital letters and rename it to data.db. So I think in your options it is the case (2). Linux file system drivers are case sensitive always.

Have tried unsuccessfully 3 times to upgrade my LS to Linux. The 1st 2 times the screen went black after a couple hours. Had to power down by holding the power button (for a long time, typical anyway for several times a day!, have just learned to live with the constant freeze ups). It did upgrade to v 2.1.0.58, however it is now very slow and many functions will not work at all, Like the BOUNDARY profile and some white boxes are gone. Previous job files are there. It is now very difficult to get any productivity in the field. It freezes more often than before. Have tried using it for 2 days of field work and It is so "bloated" it is not worth using , it appears that the procedure went part way but left me non functional.

The last attempt to migrate started 9 hours ago. After 2 hours it was at "Archiving" and froze at 47.09% I left it on all night and 9 hours later it is still just frozen, nothing responds.

A new USB stick formatted to FAT 32 was used.
Power cable plugged in.
Cable connection to WIFI router plugged in.
I selected the restore point, but can find no way to restore back to what worked.
I download and archive each job every day, so I can tolerate totally erasing the Job folders if need.
Ser # 00723.
Use a Triumph 1 as a base, upsampling turned on.

Questions?

1. How can I get it back to the previous state, that will at least allow me to work?
2. Would deleting the JOBS allow it to upgrade?
3. Is it the numbers of jobs it is trying to archive?
4. What needs done to get this working and away from the "Windows Bloat"?

Restore points can be recalled by pressing the Home button during booting. If you have many projects that you do not need, deleting them before migrating would likely help. It would at least reduce the time the process takes. If you have archives of individual projects, they can be unpacked later if needed in the Linux OS.

Also did you start the migration process with J-Field 2.1.0.58? Everyone should update to the latest available version of J-Field before starting migration as the latest version contains improvements and fixes for the migration process.

Process started last night, Software window now says 2.1.0.58. Ever since the first attempt to migrate to Linux the LS has been "Bogged" to the point of not worth using.

If you want we could also give you instructions to download and create a Linux factory SD card. You would lose all the data and settings stored on the LS if you go this way though.

I think you have started first migration on the old version. Now to get more information about the current state of the unit, can you put it on RAMS server "JAVAD GNSS,INC", please?

Started last attempt 2 hours ago.. it froze at 1:27:44 "Archiving... at 35.42% and is unresponsive. Just hold in power button to shut off? Will try to connect to RAMS
