I also turn my LS when I don't have radio. I aslo raise it up and down. It does help.

I spent 30% of today doing exactly that... Slow reception, turn the LS on the SECO, bang! Epochs roll in.

Clay, I might be a little worried about changing the height while collecting a shot. It does however help a lot to try collecting at a different height after stopping the previous collection, which may be what you meant.

I don't change the height while collecting a shot. I just change the height to get radio signal and then collect a shot. If you chamged height while collecting you d get some bad vertical error, lol. I should have explained better.

LOL, ain't that the truth. I've been using gps for 15 years and I guess some things that are second nature I don't think about explaining.
Actually you would fail on jump if the height is changed much.

To clerify:
If you don't have radio or its in and out. Then try pointing the antenna towards the base and then raise and lower until you hopefully get radio.
