Move/Rotate....holding point groups

I think this has been changed in the new update of J field and I'm hoping it was by accident. When I go to move a group of design points I select for instance design pnts 1-10 and then move design pnt 1 to survey pnt 12. Then typically after finding another design pnt and shooting a new survey pnt on it I'm ready to rotate. Now, when I go into rotate I have to re select the design pnts 1-10 again. The same group I chose in move should be held when I go into rotate and I'm fairly sure it was until this new version.

Is there any reason this has been changed intentionally? I can't think of many scenarios where you wouldn't want the same group of points to rotate that you just moved. If for some reason you did you could change the group that's already pre set in that screen.

Also, is there any way that the filtering icon could be "separated" from the design point side to the survey point side? What I mean is, usually I only use the filter in design points. I know it's sometimes needed on the surveyed side as well so I don't mean to eliminate it, just somehow have a separate one for each screen.
I may have 30 design points but only be ready to move/rotate 10 of them so I go to the filter and type 1..10 and then those 10 are all that's on the screen under design. I can then select the all points icon on top left.
However, then when going into surveyed points to select which surveyed point to move "to" that filter is still "active" where it shows no surveyed points. Unless there's an easier way, I have to hit the filter again, click on the number I'd previously put in 1..10, and then clear it out of the keyboard. Only then do all my surveyed points reappear.
Am I missing some way to just easily toggle off the filtering?

I agree that it would be good to make these changes. To clarify for Andrey, the request is to:
  • Make the list of selected points for Shift, Move and Rotate global between these 3 functions
  • Implement separate the Name Filter states for different object types in the Points screen (Survey Points, Design Points, Polyline and Trajectories)
Unless there's an easier way, I have to hit the filter again, click on the number I'd previously put in 1..10, and then clear it out of the keyboard

Long clicking the Name FIlter button will clear the search values in it.

Daren, this is the MOST responsive group of equipment developers on the planet.

If they keep this up, where will this product be in a year or two?

It's exciting to see a company that is moving on.

Here are the changes that Andrey made. Please comment if the meaning of these settings are clear for you guys or not:

Pressing the Shifts button leads to this screen:

Andrey, I'm just wondering if it might be better to have the "Use the one Select Objects for all task" always enabled and eliminate the first setting for Create/Move. If there are too many settings it can get confusing.

OK, I'm jumping in on this.

SHIFT and MOVE do the same thing, just a different method. Therefore, they are redundant.

Shift, moves them by coordinate.
MOVE moves them by direction and distance.

They are the same thing. What would be wrong with combining these?

And, SCALE Coords should be added.
Scale should also have the option to include a Scale Base, or use 0,0 as scale base.

Nate hit the nail right on the head - in fact he sunk that ringshank spike with one blow. Shift and move should be combined into one - translate. Inside translate, keep both methods of translation available for use. Also, for both translate and rotate, we need another option - to be able to pick point numbers to define the parameters of the adjustment. This is paramount in order to use these features quickly and easily.

For example, if I want to translate some points, 1-10, with the translation having the same distance and direction as the inverse from point 1 and another point, 100, I should be able to just punch in the point numbers, not tediously enter in the bearing and distance after inversing.

We have this feature already. See what I wrote in the Quick Start Guide:

I agree that Move and Shift are very similar and could be combined into the same function and that we do need a Scale function still.

I'd agree with Matt here. I think the less options to pick the better here. Of course, if you always leave it checked it wouldn't be an issue, but then there's always a chance of hitting something like that by accident. I would, as I said originally, be completely good with once I select a group of points to have everything in the "shifts" or "transformations" actions stay set with that group of points until I manually change it.

I'd also 100% agree with Nate in move/shift being combined and could be called translate. I think that's the term most of us were familiar with in our previous life (prior to using Javad and J field ).

Is it simple and straight foreward to MAKE a point group, for rotate and translate, and scale that looks like this, in one data string:
500,502,550-600,700,750-760
This would then include 500, 502, then 550 through 600, then 700, then 750 through 760.
That is how I am used to doing it.
Thanks

You would need to select these points using the Multiselect Explorer screen. You can use the name filter to filter to your ranges and then use the select all button to select your ranges of points. For example "550..600" will filter the points to 550 through 600.
