My LS tipped over today

This afternoon while collecting on a point, the LS tipped over and hit a bare, dead branch about 16 inches off the ground. I had to chop my way into this point and there were a lot of vines I had cut. Apparently something upset the bipod while I had my back turned and it fell. When I picked it up it was unresponsive. I hit the ON button and it fired back up and after establishing corrections from the base I collected the point with no issues. This was literally the last shot on a 75 acre project.

Is the fact that everything seems to be working evidence that nothing was damaged? Is it normal for it to shut itself like this?

Yes, it is ok. May be power got interrupted when hit the ground and established again.

Thanks for the reassurance. It is built tough!

The LS really is really tough. When I 1st got mine I flipped my 4 wheeler. The 4 wheeler flipped down a hill 9x. It rolled over the LS twice and the LS was still going.

Also I replaced my 4 wheeler with a side by side and one day the LS fell out while I was driving. The LS is still working. Never had any trouble except I try to be careful. However accidents happen.

I personally vouch for the LS being the toughest GPS rover I have ever used in 15 years of using GPS.

Mine fell over, and turned off, like you too @K Davis . it worried me for about a minute. I turned it back on, and it kept on.
Apparently, it can loose power for a bit, and keep on. When tipped over.

Yeah I almost had a heart attack when I picked it up and it was blank screen. Intuition kicked in an said "Turn it on"!

The limb it hit was dead Black Locust, possibly the hardest wood in KY!

I try to be ultra careful. I had just spent 2 days around the top of a limestone cliff where I never let go of it, so I guess I let my guard down on this shot.

Mine has been blown over or fell over many times, a few on pavement.
Has a few scars but"it takes a licking and keeps on ticking. They are pretty rugged.

A couple of weeks ago, mine took its first spill. I had it leaning on a tree and the vines I was removing made the tree sway and my rod fell down the hill and the LS popped off the end of my rod and I freaked smooth out as it rolled a few times before coming to a stop. The adapter is aluminum and it stripped most of the threads off of it, but the LS ended up being just fine (hit nothing harder than the ground). I just switched to my adapter from the base and all is well. @Shawn Billings told me about an improved adapter made from stainless, but I have thought about it and it may not be bad for the softer adapter to give and not overstress something inside the unit, so I'll keep on using the aluminum ones. Scary...
