Like you said the purpose is more to stop an opportunistic snatch-and-run creep. Have you noticed how the base plate is attached to the T2? I could defeat your cable lock with a phillips screwdriver pretty quickly if I wanted to
True about the screwdriver, but trying to manipulate those screws while the unit is attached to the top of a 2-meter tripod might prove to be frustrating. I'll check tomorrow to see if there's enough slack in the cable to allow the unit to be removed from the tripod while locked.
I agree about the deterrent value of any lock, though -- if the item isn't easy and quick to grab, a lot of thieves will look elsewhere for their booty.
