Overall J-Mate experiences...?

I do admit to being very surprised how few reports and posts that there have been with the trial users in regards to the J-Mate experience. I bought my Javad after running my entire business on the back of Geodimeter robots for the last 20 years. It has taken me about 18 months but I find that I am pulling the Robot out less and less and using just Thor's hammer for the bulk of my work.
However, I do admit - I still encounter the situations where I must Robot and wonder how the experience would compare if using the J-Mate.

My question is - Why the silence?
Positive or Negative.... The experiment and results (postive and or negative) would be very interesting to follow.

John,

A very reasonable question. I am one of the testers. I believe there is a great potential in the J-Mate. The testing has revealed several items that are awkward and the JAVAD team is continuing to invent and refine solutions. I think it will be a great tool; development is slow. There are so many new and changing things happening that I am not comfortable reporting publicly. I don't want to comment on something that the development team is in the process of changing. Once again, things are looking good and moving forward. It is a slow process.

It is very exciting being part of the development of this piece of equipment! I am testing all the time and getting the processes for utilizing the features more refined and I like the direction we are headed!

All different - what you create in the US does not necessarily fit in the EU, who participating from EU region?

I have a question regarding vertical accuracy when using the J-Mate, hopefully someone can educate me on this. When using the J-mate, I imagine the vertical accuracy will be improved from what it is when using our current Thriumph-LS (RTK Rover) and Thriumph-2(RTK base) system. During the J-Mate testing experience, what has been the Thriumph-LS(RTK and Optical Rover), J-Mate (Optical/(RTK?) Base), Thriumph-2(RTK Base) system's horizontal and vertical accuracy? Let's assume the base is set on a point with known horizontal and vertical state plane coordinates. Please let me know, thank you.

I like the idea of possibly using a j-mate at some point because I certainly use my Robot often enough. But I am greatly disappointed that my LS has so many J-mate related buttons that I have no option to remove with this latest update. Also as a side note is there anywhere that describes what all of the white buttons do? Or better yet even a whole new instruction book because there have been so many changes to the interface.

Are you using the PreRelease version of J-Field? It is not finalized and I would recommend sticking to the Release version.

John, we are working closely with our focus team to improve software and field process for this product. Can you tell what are the standard use case scenarios for J-Mate in your applications could be?

Eugene,
Thank you for your question. I have been using a Geodimeter Robot ever since I hung my shingle out 20 years ago. It has been the engine of my Surveying.
I got my LS and T3 about 2 years ago. It has taken a little while but I am now at the point where I hardly ever pull the Robot out anymore.
The bulk of my work are Boundary Surveys, residential and commercial. Elevations and Trees being common requirements for building permits.

How I see the J-Mate being of benefit are those occasions when the canopy is just too dense.
I have gotten good at working under canopy but it can be time consuming.

Another good use would be for me to be able to accurately obtain accurate finish floor elevations.
Only way now is a porch shot +4" but that is not always possible and it can be time consuming

Tree locations are another common thing I do, and it seems that the J-Mate would be good to set up on a point and simply point and shoot the trees.

These are a couple of my imagined uses.

Thank you for your follow up,
It is appreciated.

Eugene, many of us are looking forward to getting our hands on a J-Mate unit. To the JAVAD Team, Keep up the good work with the J-Mate!!! Don't put this project on the back burner.

In my case, I have already upgraded my Thriumph-LS to a Thriumph-LS Plus just to be ready for when the J-Mate units come out for sale. I bet you will have many JAVAD users wanting to join the team that received units in terms of Early Access Program, and of course I am one of them.

we are working on that. Most likely beginning of next year due to COVID-19.
We have a team that received units in terms of Early Access Program. Do you want to Join it or you would like to wait for the official release?
We have already ordered our unit back in June, and were told that we would have it by late November early December. If we were to get ours via the Early Access Program will I be able to use the J-mate confidently and not have to second guess it’s results? And when would we get the J-mate?
