This is a plat that has a certification, seal and digital signature. I know this is not a Javad generated docuement, but it should show what the certification, seal and digital signatures will look like. Where the certs, seal and signatures are placed in the report, would probably be best in the header information, where the Logo and receiver details are placed, on at least on the first page somewhere. If someone else feels it should be somewhere else, would be nice to have their input as well. The certification will be different, for everyone, so to simplify, we just need an place to type in the certification, a place to insert an image of the seal, and generate a pdf unrestricted from allowing digital signatures.

I think its great we can generate our reports, in PDF, this would just make the end result a lot more professional.

Another thing, is that usually my pdf reports encompass way more information than I wish to share, with that particular client.
So, I'd want to delete or remove older pages.
Not relevant to the curent client. So, I'd want full editing freedom.

Thanks a lot! Could you send us some examples of PDF documents, that meet those requirements (certification, seal and digital signature).
Here is a screenshot of a PDF created from JField. I added the certificate under the project notes, then imported into one note and added the jpeg of my seal. i then printed, signed, and scanned it back in. This one doesn't have a digital signature.

We have the following plan.

1. Allow editing document in current release right now (in few days due to testing). It is fastest way to simplify PDF-reporting workflow.

2. For future Linux release we will add certificate text and seal image too.

3. Final digital signature with image of human signature image will be added on desktop by Adobe program (Fill & Sign tool).

Ultimately, we need the freedom, and option to:
Make
Edit
Modify
Delete
Pdf's created from the LS.
Then, re-save them, with our own password.
With varying certificates.
Just put the option there, for "user set password"
I can see a case for both ways of doing things. Let the user decide which is needed, for that particular project.

Attached is a screenshot of a 3rd party signed sealed report. Had to convert this to a pdf with no restrictions. I did not type the certificate into the notes section like Adam did, but I think placement of seal is similar. I think the way you are approaching the solution is great.

Thx

In my opinion, ensuring that the generated report is the unaltered product of Javad hardware and software confers no benefit. The Javad system has no way of knowing the conditions and procedures that were employed during data collection, so there is no certifiable link between the named station and its position as reported by DPOS. Further -- at least in the U.S. -- it is the responsibility of the individual licensed land surveyor to know the methods and procedures used in determining station positions, and only his certification carries any authority. Given the hassles imposed on the user by efforts to protect the DPOS report and the workarounds to any document protection already available, my preference is for a completely unprotected PDF report.
I agree completly with Jim. It is hard for me to think of a document that I can't forge or alter. Either the end users trust the sender or they don't. If someone wants a document that "can't be altered" then give us that option. If we want an "open" document, then give us that oprion.

Gentlemen,

Please try J-Field 2.1.0.38 PreRelease. It will allow all editing capabilities when password is empty. I tried that on Foxit Phantom PDF. Unfortunately I has no Adobe license to do that. Let us know how it works:)

Hello Vladimir,
So how are reports prior to May 30, 2018 able to be edited? What was the default password preventing editing?
Thank you very much.
Kelly
Hi Kelly,
Unfortunately it was random password:( So it is unique for each doument. I would suggest following work around using Google Chrome:
  • Select the locked PDF and right-click on it.
  • From the dropdown menu, choose Open with and select Chrome Browser.
  • Next, right-click on the PDF file and select the Print option.
  • Select the "Save as PDF" option and click on Save.
Saved document will be unprotected at all:)

Hi Vladimir,
Thank you very much for your kind reply. Yes, I did something similar, but from Acrobat Reader, Print, Printer, Microsoft to PDF, as suggested in an earlier post.
