Quick Codes For J Field

I think J Field is a great software. Love what it offers. If I had 1 change to make it would be to add a quick codes similar to Spectra Precision software. Basically in one screen that is grided off with your descriptions. At the top of the screen it would show your residuals. To store a point just touch the description you want, then its stores the point with one touch. This way you don't have to type your description, then tell it to start collecting, and finally accept the point. It would turn this whole process into one touch.

I don't have a problem when I'm doing a boudary survey, but topo takes longer with J Field than what I am used to with Spectra Precision.

We have this already. You just need to use codes instead of descriptions:

I disagree. You still have to push like 3 buttons to get a shot. It would be much more efficient for a one button push. I used to take 3000 shots a day.

So what I am trying to get at is you have to push the code button to change the code. Then push the code you want. Then hit start or tilt/lift. Then accept. The problem I have with tilt and lift is while the receiver is tilted it losses satelite data and takes a minute to regain fix. If you could keep the reciever in a more plumb position the satelite data remains better. So keep the receiver plumb and touch 1 button that tells tge receiver the description you want and to store that description (based on the acceptance criteria you feel is acceptable).

We have the option to Auto Accept points already so that is one button press that can already be eliminated if desired. Options to start “With Code Selection”
and “Return to Code Selection Screen after Accepting Points” could probably be added and would work with J-Field’s GUI to make it possible to only have to press a single button to survey a point.
