Radio Antenna Transport

I have some and love those cable cuffs for larger cables like extension cords. I usually use some velcro straps for my antenna cables and power cords, which I can go back to. I was just thinking of making the ground plane more user-friendly. Attaching a sketch of the idea I had.

I just bundle the cord up around the top of it with the cuffs but your idea looks like it would works. The ground plane itself has to be metal and there is a minimum size it should be. I wouldn't suggest making it smaller.

OK, hi everybody. My fist post. I got it all last night. I wonder, where does the ground plane disk go? The hole it it is very small. Like it is supposed to go at the bottom of the antenna wire. If it's supposed to go below that, then I will have to cut the hole in it bigger. to fit the 5/8" threads of the prism pole.
I also got a BAD antenna fitting. The female one, that is about 1" dia, and is supposed to screw down, on the device with the wire attached to it, that goes to the radio. So, I have tried to reach somebody to get that rectified. I'll need another one. I have my old topcon radio, and antenna. I borrowed the whip antenna off of it, so I can run for a few days, but it is not the 5/8 gain antenna. I need to go find MEET AND GREET!
This is a very exciting purchase for me. I LOVE good data, and fast is even better!

Nate:
Drop back and take a look at Post #36. I highly recommend installing the cable clamp like the picture to take the stress off of the cable at the antenna mount. You can also see where the ground plane is supposed to be attached, it is below the main body, above the taper. The taper has the 5/8" threads for mounting - you will not need to enlarge the ground plane hole if you have all the correct parts.

Thanks Tovio. I got the ground plane to go where it is supposed to. I am also thinking about the ground plane disk corner, chaffing the cable, in the wind, on long days, on hilltops. Maybe some sort of protector... from hardware store. Shrink wrap, or something.

I don''t think chafing would be an issue for many many years - it is the stiff cable that is the problem. It will tend to break if bent at the antenna mount (main came that way and was replaced immediately) The cable camp will help that tremendously - I just wish the cable was much more flexible - is is going to be even worse in the cold this winter.
