Radio Issues

Having a bit of trouble again. When I press the Start Base button it does not do anything, so I cannot connect with Rover. I have selected the base coordinates, but when I press Start Base button, it will not go to the "Do you want to Start Base? screen.

If the Start Base button is greyed out you need to press To Base first. This will send the radio parameters to the base so that the base and rover profiles are using the same parameters.

The reason for the behavior you saw when you pressed screen and stop base pop up appeared is because you didn't stop base the last time you used it. It was showing tx because of this . This isn't really proper procedure. You should stop base before breaking it down .

Monday update...I followed the procedures and the base/rover screen was exactly as shown in manual. I had all systems go, then I walked about 100 feet and watching the base/rover screen all the while and then the screen changed from "stop button" showing to "start button" shows gray and the screen showed communication was "ok" for LS but no "ok" for base and the coordinates no longer showed in display screen....but I could still collect and stake points and about anything I wanted to do. The Greek "E" button in Collection screen even shows I have base and rover positions. When I was done with about 3 hours of surveying...I went to base/rover button and "start buttton" was still grayed, no "stop button" available, so I just pressed done. I would like the stop base button to show, so that I can shut down properly, and of course to have communication and display coordinates show as well in the base/rover screen.....but it did still survey points anyway.....Phil

When you walk away the Bluetooth connection is broken. This screen become irrelevant once you see "Receiving" until you are ready to stop base. At the end of the session, you have to reconnect the Bluetooth connection to the base. Then you will see Stop Base. "Done" doesn't really do anything either. You're close, but not quite there:

Connect Bluetooth
Set Coordinates and Communication Parameters for Base
Send to Base
Start Base
Provide Session Name
Wait for "Receiving" to show for the Status
Go to Collect or Stake and do your work
Return to Base at the end of the session
Connect Bluetooth
Stop and Download - keep LS within Bluetooth range of base and do not turn of Base receiver or LS until download is complete
Power everything down and load up.

Phil, I butted heads with it too... Tried to impose the mechanism of yesterday, on to TODAY's High tech bluetooth.....

Hey guys, I skimmed through this thread and did not find my answer, but I could possibly overlooked it. My HPT901BT radio will not connect to my T2 and LS. The "waiting on connection" icon continuously displays in the upper left. I turned everything off and back on again and the same thing happened. I used it Tuesday, it was slow to connect but it did connect. I went to a job to acquire additional points this afternoon and I could not get the radio to connect. Possible an easy fix?

Thanks,
Garrett

First thing would to check is to turn on your radio and your T2 and see if the T2 Bluetooth light comes on. If it comes on then your radio and T2 are talking. Next I would connect your LS to the T2 and clear the NVRam on your base. Once that is done push the radio settings back to the base. Tell the base where it is sitting on the right side of the base rover screen and hit start base. Wait 30-45 seconds and take your rover a little bit away from your radio. Check and see if the Bluetooth light on your radio is flashing once per second. If so your base is sending out corrections and we need to look at some setting.
