Restore Point Fails on Update

I'm using the latest version of Linux. The last two updates have attempted to set a restore point and fail. When this occurs I restart the update process and bypass the restore point. Is this a known problem or am I doing something incorrectly when updating Jfield?

I have this problem as well. The fail message was something about not enough room on the SD card.

Well... we store date to SD card. Restore Point contains software packages and all user data. So if you have small amount of user data(jdata) you still get about 400Mb of restore point already. We do serve last 3 restore points. That means 1.5Gb is busy + 3* "jdata storage of internal eMMC". In that way you can exceed amount of available space.
What to do?
1. check that you have no duplicated data on the SD card.
2. Clean old Restore points via File Browser /SD Card/jbackup/*. Should be 3 latest in this folder. If not - let me know.

This morning I noticed the Geodata was available for updating so I did that. It said not enough room to create a restore point so I said OK.

Now the rebooting of my TLS+ seems to be hanging up at some point in the process with just the yocto splash screen showing. The only two options available if I hit the home screen in time when rebooting are either to use the last restore point (that seems like forever ago) or restore factory settings.

Any thoughts as to the best remedy out of this?

Thanks.

Try holding the power button down then powering back up. If it doesn't boot up again then restoring is probably needed.

From what I understand restore factory settings downloads the last applications together with Linux OS from boot menu, so creating a restore point is not necessary anymore. Full back up is still recommended though. I've always used restore factory settings as the last effort to get back going. But, it has changed in the past while.

@Michael Stazhkov This is happening to others who update. Ive had several calls already. Can you check on it?

Well I see that the process was a little more complex and required some decisions. I believe what I did so far was to just replace the Linux operating system, which did not fix the problem. I see the other options are J-Field, Fonts and Geo-Data so I thought I might wait and see if a new Geo-Data file would be in the offing and potentially fix the problem. The pre-release and release versions of the Geo-Data are the same. But I probably won't be able to wait that long as I will need to use the unit tomorrow in the field. So at that point I will probably restore J-Field and then see if I have the ability to retrieve the older version of the Geo-Data. I just don't know what kind of settings rebuilding I will have to do after any of these possibilities.

You shouldn't have any problems with your settings. They should still be there after restoring. Let it do them all.

Options in the boot menu "Reset To Factory Image" -> "Software Recovery" doesn't allow to select which part to recover. It will download everything needed (JField, Linux OS, GeoData) and install. It will not delete your data, just reinstall compatible versions.
P.S. From the "Software Settings" menu you can select Release or PreRelease package. We rolled back GeoData to 2.6.3.61111.

Thanks Michael. I realized that as I was paying more attention to my current download. It gives me comfort knowing that the roll back was done. I will know shortly if this was successful.
