RTPK Question

I have a TR-3 Base with LS Plus Rover and have set RTPK collection for canopy at 2 minutes. In a difficult area with heavy canopy I've noticed that it will on occasion process a fixed solution and then several no solutions. If I store the point and reset it will process a solution and again several no solutions. My unit does not store RTPK unless two solutions agree so I am not able to compare to the previous fixed. I thought the unit I tried before purchasing would store 1 RTPK fix but I may be mistaken. Any help with the setting or RTPK advice would be much appreciated.

An rtpk solution based on one matching pair is pretty weak....the idea is to let it run a while and through time and a few resets and when ... previously discussed three matches are found ....your probability of a valid position is higher. The lack of a match error is saying it did not match the first rtpk solution and it will keep banking rtpk solutions until it finds one it likes better and will switch to that position...sometimes it will have 2 or 3 matches when it pops back up. Just takes a while sometimes

There is no way to view rtpk "buckets" to see progress

Clear as mud I am sure. May someone else will have a better explanation.

Thank You. I am about 3 years with a Javad unit and the first fix is rtpk fix (0) as I understand it. I am looking for a setting to change so that I can store that rtpk fix (0) if I need to. As I mentioned before I can get a solution rtpk(0) with several other no solutions , when I store the point it stores only rtk. Start another session and same scenario, so if I had the ability to store that rtpk (0) then I could compare with those from other sessions. Rarely does this happen and only in a very difficult environment where I cannot get at least 2 rtpk solutions in the same session to agree, but have not had the time to review the info John Rosco sent me. I bought the Javad for the rtpk feature and thankful for it . Before I would spend significant time post processing points when I got back to the office and I don't miss that at all. As always any help is appreciated

I think when you get that first match (0) you can store it, but on mine you would have to do it quick. When I stop the rtpk it will run the data between the last rtpk solution and when you stop recording. Thus if you are in a tough environment it may not match and you will get the no rtpk solution message barring you from storing it.

If you have a position from prior sessions you can use put that value in the "compare to box" and see how your current data compares as you collect it. The distance to last box also would show how your current data compares to the prior "quick" rtpk shot. In fact you can have three "compare to boxes on your collection screen at the same time allowing you to set a different"quick" rtpk shot under each one.

You can also download your base file at the end of your session and you can reprocess your RTPK points one at a time to see if you can get a solution once you get back to the truck or office. I am not sure how that compares to 2 or 3 matching while you are collecting or what. Maybe John or Matt can add to what data it is reprocessing to get that possible solution and if it is infact the same results you would have in the field if you had stopped when you had 2 RTPK solutions that aggreed and you went for a 3rd and did not get a solution.
