Spoof Alert

The recent Spoof Busters article has me wondering: when should I expect that my Triumph LS might provide a Spoof Alert notice?

What would be nice is if the location of the source could be approximated and also reported in such a Spoof Alert.

"When we detect that spoofing is in effect, we use the position solution provided by all other clean signals to ignore the spoofed measurement and use the real measurement. If all signals are spoofed, then we alarm you to ignore GNSS and use other sensors in your integrated system."

I'm already alarmed. The question is, are current owners of the Triumph-LS covered?

It could be a variety of sensors that would be used with a Javad OEM board in a navigation system. Spoofing is much more a danger to navigation systems than it is to land surveyors. A land surveyor will obviously know something is wrong and not to use a solution if the position being reported is many miles away from where it should be.

I agree Matt; however I'm also thinking like Sean, though not explicitly with the F1 in mind, but if any UAV gets spoofed, there will be undesired results.

Spoofing is definitely a concern for UAVs. This is why you see locations being spoofed to locations of airports, because UAV firmware prevents them from flying near airports.

John, could you have spoken ]yes[ too soon? Or has the policy changed since the original article was posted and your November 26, 2017 response? I only ask because it appears that we're only covered if we purchase Spoofing Detection. Is that correct?

Spoofing detection is an option that can be purchased any time. It is NOT included in the standard features among many other features that are not standard.
