Staking to Surface. Losing the Surface File

I have noticed that you can load a surface into a job and perform the task at hand for the day. However if you shut down the receiver and return to the job at another time, you have to reload the surface into the project. Is there a set reason for this or is it possibly a bug in the software? It’s not really a big issue having to reload unless your files are in a network cloud drive and you are without internet coverage.
Any insight would be great.

We just implemented the basic functionality and need feedback. Now we don't store the selected surface permanently. It is not implemented yet.

Thanks Michael for the information. As far as feedback, what all would you like to hear? I can tell you that i have used the surface routine to run cut /fills on a project and it appears to work properly. I would love to see the ability to stake line work on the surface but I know I have discussed this option in a previous post.
i can tell you one thing that is a little annoying is when the screen is flipped to “filled surface” view, you are unable to see the arrow indicating your location. Would be nice for the arrow to change colors so you know where you are on the surface. Ask me some specific questions and I’ll let you know

I can see WANTING to loose the surface file.... (You know, updates from engineer)
Keep the ability to "loose" the surface file! (When you "want" to!)
